Sbobet Sportsbook Review

SBOBet experience is a unique one. They have all the trappings of a traditional online sportsbook, but they specialize in a wildly deep live-betting package, often at the expense of futures and outrights. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on what you’re hoping to get out of your sportsbook. But if you’re a bettor who’s obsessed with real-time line updates and capitalizing on events that have already started, you’ll find you have a home at SBOBet.

Our Hot Take

SBOBet is a decent sportsbook. Welcome bonuses are far from extinct in online-sportsbook circles, but they’re also wavering when you move beyond the powerhouse operations. Relative to other off-beat sportsbooks, we have to commend SBOBet for welcome bonuses they offer new users. Frankly, it’s a breath of fresh air.

However, this sportsbook is rather limited when it comes to access.

Account creation

Two-Steps at SBOBet

Registering with SBOBet doesn’t take much time. It’s a two-step process that begins with creating a username and password. After that, you’ll be asked to put in your personal information—name, birthdate, phone number, email, etc.

One good thing about the sign-up process: You don’t need to provide an address. That’s just generally more convenient, as well as easier for those registering with a VPN service.

Welcome Bonuses

Can’t Miss Goodies

First-time deposits are eligible for a 100 percent match bonus by using the promo code “ACE28” when completing your transaction. Recurring customers, meanwhile, can enter promo code “DEPBON60” to receive up to a €200 bonus on their deposit.

Do note, though, that these promos aren’t available to customers in China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mayanmar, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

Deposits

Start Betting Immediately

Though you don’t need an address to create an account, you will have to provide an address to make a deposit at SBOBet.

After you confirm a residence—you can use a virtual residence if you’re working on a VPN—you’ll be asked to select a payment type, at which point you’ll enter the necessary information and deposit amount.

Bitcoin: A Non-Option

Bitcoin is not an acceptable form of payment at SBOBet right now. Try asking their customer service department if you’re dead set on using it. Otherwise, proceed with a credit card, bank transfer, NETELLER or Skrill.

Credit Cards: Visa and Mastercard are a Go

Sorry, American Express and Discover users. Visa and Mastercard are the only credit card issuers accepted at this time.

Withdraw Winnings

Self-Explanatory

Withdrawing your winnings at SBOBet takes little to no effort. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a “deposit and withdrawal” tab at the top of the screen. Click on that, and you’ll be able to select a payout method.

SBOBet does not charge any withdrawal fees, but they do have minimum amounts you must take out. These minimums are extremely low when dealing in Euros, but they are higher for other forms of currencies, and they’re also higher if you’re trying to cash out via a telegraphic transfer.

Placing a Bet

Hassle-Free

There is almost no work flow when it comes to placing a wager at SBOBet. Your betslip will be present on the top right of your screen as soon as you enter the sportsbook, so as soon as you’re done making your line selections, all you need to do is hit “place bet” to submit it.

The only change when placing a bet on your mobile device is that unless you’re using the app, you’ll first be brought to the deposit screen.

Politics Betting

Not at SBOBet

Political—along with entertainment—betting is not currently available at SBOBet.

eSports

Great eSports Options

All the major esports betting options are at SBOBet: Dota, Counterstrike, Rainbow Six, NBA 2K, FIFA, etc. They also have some lesser-known competitions, like Kings of Glory and Crossfire.

SBOBet does a superb job separating the tournaments by start times, so you’ll never miss the chance to get involved in the most imminent competitions. Just be aware that these start times are in the Philippines. You’ll have to adjust your own schedule depending on your timezone.

Virtual Sports Betting

Solid Selection

In essence, virtual sports are video games that get simulated in real time. SBOBet is among the online sportsbooks that provide these virtual sports, and they allow you to choose from a selection of basketball, horse racing and soccer.

NFL

Falls Short

Although you can bet on the NFL at SBOBet, their selection is lacking. Our review was done during the NFL offseason, and while most sportsbooks already have Week 1 lines up, they did not.

Worse still, they didn’t even have any futures up—no win totals, no Super Bowl odds, no nothing. That’s a major letdown considering how popular the NFL is within the sports-betting community.

MLB

Adequate Selection at SBOBet

SBOBet’s MLB betting is surprisingly much better than their NFL digs. On the other hand, maybe it’s not that surprising. The Asian markets are heavily vested in baseball as a global sport. It makes sense that SBOBet would have everything from World Series futures, to division champs, to odds on individual awards winners.

NBA

Needs Prop Options

Basketball is in the same boat as baseball. It’s a fairly popular sport in Asia, so it comes as little shock that SBOBet has single-game lines up well in advance and offers all the usual outrights—win totals, conference champion, NBA Finals victor, etc.

Granted, and this goes for both SBOBet’s MLB and NFL betting as well, the site could use some actual prop options. Futures are nice, and SBOBet also offers simulations of basketball games in the virtual sports sections, but online sportsbooks should understand that they always have room for props.

US Open

Not Well-Covered

Outright golf odds aren’t hard to find at SBOBet. That in mind, if you’re looking for props on all the majors, you’ll need to use another sportsbook. SBOBet doesn’t have them for the NFL, MLB, NBA, or this.

More Betting Options

Alternative Sports in Abundance

Don’t let SBOBet’s shortcomings on the props front discourage you too much. They make up for the limited scope of their specific wagers with a vast general selection. Other sports you can bet on include badminton, bandy, beach soccer, boxing, cricket, cycling, darts, field hockey, soccer, handball, hockey, MMA, Formula 1, other motorsports, rugby, snooker, squash, tennis, table tennis, water polo and volleyball.

Casino

More Than One Casino Bonus

Featured casino games at SBOBet include:

Bonus

The casino at SBOBet doesn’t offer a one-size-fits all bonus. Instead, they have different bonuses for different games. For instance, currently, you can earn extra rewards points by playing for a certain number of spins at the roulette table.

Live Betting

Live in the Now

The process to place a live bet at SBOBet is incredibly thorough. They’ll first show you a page that lists all the sports with live events going on. Then, once you select a sport, you’ll go to a page with all of the eligible competitions and potential betting options.

Parlay Betting

A Little Complicated at SBOBet

SBOBet’s parlay betting option is a “Mixed Parlay,” but while the option is clearly visible at the top of your screen, navigating the various game lines on mobile is much too difficult

Also, we repeatedly returned back to the deposit page throughout the process. SBOBet could benefit from both a functionality and aesthetic redesign.

Additional Betting Help

A Surplus of Assistance

Check out all the alternative sources of help SBOBet offers:

If it’s information you crave, SBOBet is a nice landing spot for your online gambling. They don’t publish betting advice pieces on their blog, but that’s not unusual. Everything else at your fingertips is extremely helpful.

Promotions

A Home Run

SBOBet gets it right on promotions. It’d be nice if they had more casino-specific benefits, but between their welcome bonus and sportsbook promotional programs, new users are in great hands.

Customer Service

Always Available

Customer service can be hit or miss in this business. SBOBet’s customer support is a massive hit. They give you the option of contacting them by phone, email, live chat and even Skype! Talk about going above and beyond.

Emails

Limited Contact

Like many other sportsbooks, SBOBet only emails you to verify your account creation. From then on, they’ll only send you emails related to promotions and incentives that you okayed when you registered.

Live Streaming

Available But Limited

SBOBet has the capacity to live stream some events, but not many. Soccer and tennis are their biggest markets, which is still a lot more relative to what other sportsbooks offer.

VPN

Functional

Accessing SBOBet from an unsupported territory using a VPN worked for us. However, although you didn’t need an address to create an account, you do need one to make a deposit. People outside supported territories will have use virtual addresses if they wish to place wagers on SBOBet.

Conclusion

SBOBet is Good Enough

For the all-business bettor, SBOBet sportsbook promises more than enough to get by. Their welcome bonus program is strong, and their customer-support bandwidth is stronger. They aren’t very creative when it comes to their individual sports offerings, but they still guarantee you a crack at just about every sport that’s out there.

Sbobet Sportsbook Review

The only genuinely tough thing to reconcile is the user experience on mobile. It needs a design overhaul to make deposits and overall site navigation a lot better. Look for a better site.
