UFC Men’s Bantamweight Matchup Overview: Cory Sandhagen vs. Song Yadong

Fighter Spotlight: Cory Sandhagen

One of the bright young stars in the bantamweight division, “The Sandman” is seeking a return to the top in his bout against Yadong. Coming off an interim UFC Bantamweight Championship match loss against Petr Yan at UFC 267, this will be Sandhagen’s first bout since October. However, don’t expect the year ring rust to deter the No. 4 ranked fighter in the UFC Bantamweight division. With an overall record of 14-4, is angling for a big rebound performance against Yadong. A fighter with multiple Fight of the Night or Performance of the Night honors to his name, the 30-year old is certainly a hungry fighter capable of winning at a moment’s notice.

Fighter Spotlight: Song Yadong

Opposing the former title challenger will be Yadong who is currently riding a three-fight win streak. Since making his UFC debut back in 2017, the Chinese combatant has put together an impressive UFC record of 7-1-1 to go along with his previous 12 professional victories overseas. In his professional career, the 24-year-old has been able to knock out his foes consistently to the tune of eight wins via KO or TKO. Indeed, Yadong is one of the fighters to watch in the bantamweight division. If he is able to knock off Sandhagen in Vegas, he will be one of the star contenders for the UFC Bantamweight Championship.

Prediction: This will be an especially exciting bout given the fact that Sandhagen will be very well-rested to take on Yadong. With that in mind, look for the veteran to pull away in this one

UFC Men’s Featherweight Contest: Andre Fili vs. Bill Algeo

Fighter Spotlight: Andre Fili

In the second main event of the evening, two veteran featherweights will square off in a showdown to slide up the rankings. A competitor that has been with the UFC since 2013, Fili is coming off a couple tough matches and is looking for his first win since 2020. In his last bout in April of this year, Fili was undone in a TKO defeat at the hands of Joanderson Brito. Nonetheless, the 32-year old still maintains a 21-9 record in professional MMA bouts and has nine wins via knockout over the course of his career.

What to look for from: Bill Algeo

On the other side of the Octagon will be Bill Algeo who is coming off back-to-back wins, including a unanimous decision victory over Joanderson Brito. With a professional record of 16-6, the 33-year old is looking to make his first major UFC PPV debut with a win over Fili. If he does so, he will have a great chance of shooting up the divisional rankings. Algeo currently maintains a professional UFC record of 3-2 and is also coming off a Performance of the Night showing with a TKO win over Herbert Burns in mid-July

Prediction: For this bout it would be wise to stick with the hot hand which is why Algeo is the selection to win here
