Jan Blachowicz
Jan Blachowicz headlines UFC Fight Night 267.

Abu Dhabi hosts the next UFC 267 fight night this Saturday night. With two title bouts happening on the main fight card, we are all excited to see how things shake out. The men’s light heavyweight championship match could be interesting (Jan Blachowicz the main draw) and there will be an interim UFC Bantamweight Title match as well among the headliners.

Glover Teixiera vs. Jan Blachowicz

One of the big problems that have plagued UFC Fight Night 267 is the constant backpedaling and “cancellations”. Finally, Glover Teixeira and Jan Blachowicz will fight in the octagon at last. This was a fight that had already been postponed once. It is partly why there are two numbered UFC events so. close together. The Blachowicz fight was supposed to take place in late June for UFC 266.

Jan Blachowicz is a significant favorite. Blachowicz has been clocked in at around -280 to -290 for some time now. Nonetheless, Glover Teixeira has been right around -220 to -240. It is that Blachowicz fighting style that expects to frustrate Teixeira early and often.

This is going to be one of those interesting fights that should go the way of the Polish fighter, Blachowicz. Teixeira will no doubt have his moments but from a stylistic standpoint, the pace should favor his fighting style.

This will likely be one of the easier matchups to handicap on the main card. Why is that? For one, this is a headline fight. For two, we debate in a lot of ways that this is as close to a headliner as one will get in a non-PPV event. Consider this to be a bridge for UFC 268 to take place on November 6th.

UFC Fight Night 267 Top Pick: Jan Blachowicz

It is incredible to think that the 28-8 Jan Blachowicz is headlining this UFC 267 but here he is. Again, this is a fight that should have happened months ago and Blachowicz should probably be readying him to fight even tougher opposition. That is the contention anyway.

Jan Blachowicz easily decisioned Israel Adesanya in his last UFC title defense.

Alas, the fact that Blachowicz has more attack ability and force in his kicks and punches helps him greatly. Though Teixeira can go toe-to-toe with anyone, the 32-7 fighter probably has not seen someone as polished as Blachowicz. The Polish fighter can strike from anywhere. There’s a reason why the Polish fighter has risen to #7 in the pound for pound rankings.

With the Polish fighter on a five-fight winning streak, odds thankfully stopped shortening. As long as we can get Blachowicz at lower than -290 even -300, he is our pick for this UFC 267 Fight Night clash.

Our top choice for the men’s lightweight championship bout is Jan Blachowicz at -280 via BetOnline.

Cory Sandhagen vs. Petr Yan

The other championship fight on Saturday for UFC Fight Night 267 features champion Petr Yan going up against Cory Sandhagen. Yan is a significant favorite over Sandhagen even though the fighter from Colorado has some impressive knockout skills and is 14-3 in his young career. Many felt Sandhagen won his last fight over T.J. Dillashaw but the judges did not see it that way (split-decision loss).

American Sandhagen can strike very quickly and comes in where he can win by knockout or submission. In his 14 wins, Sandhagen has six by knockout and three by submission. Yan will have to watch out in this tilt as the fighter from the Rockies can punch like an avalanche.

Petr Yan’s message to Cory Sandhagen before UFC Fight Night 267.

Yan has an uncanny ability to just wait and wait and wait. Then, he strikes. he is 15-2 in his career at MMA. He has seven wins by knockout and seven by decision. One came via submission.

In this fight, we recommend betting on Yan (-225). He is the champion in most eyes still (DQ’d in the last fight) and had strung together a bunch of victories. Two of those performances have been noted as having been the performance of the night. Cory Sandhagen was a great backup to bring in but when Petr Yan is on, Petr Yan is on!

Dan Hooker vs. Islam Makhachev

This one is not a tough battle to figure out. The theory is that Islam Makhachev should win easily and he may very well do that. Dan Hooker, however, is the #6 lightweight and has been in this weight class for almost seven years. He is a fighter who is like one of those relentless pests that could hurt Makhachev a bit.

Now, there are no real equalizers in this tilt. Hooker was brought in as an injury replacement. Makhachev is 20-1 in MMA and has three knockouts and nine submissions. There is a real chance that Hooker could be a victim of submission here.

With the Russian fully ready and able to fight, the expectation is that he should defeat Hooker by KO or submission. Makhachev has won eight straight fights and only was a lucky punch away from being undefeated. His punches usually end most fights and that is possible here too. Our pick Islam Makhachev at -400 to win this UFC Fight Night 267 bout.
