The one-man band that is Conor “Notorious” McGregor returns to the octagon for the third in a series of fights against the American Dustin Poirier on July 10th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
This matchup has been highly anticipated for some time now, with the first and second fight being very one-sided affairs. While the card is still a long way off and the full card is yet to be announced, we’re sure the headline fight will be the one everyone is talking about come July.
The first bout took place at the start of the year, with both fighters looking as good as they ever have at the weigh-ins. But, Poirier overwhelmed the Irishman in the second winning the bout via TKO.
UFC betting sites are now offering odds from all the top online bookmakers, McGregor starts out as the slim favorite with some oddsmakers, while the majority have the two fighters at even odds. This bout is sure to be a close one—stay tuned for our picks and insights.
Admittedly, the event is still a long way off. But, with Conor McGregor it’s always fireworks and the bookmakers recognise this, offering the odds for the main event as well as a number of other bouts from the main card. While the odds aren’t available yet, it looks like “Sugar” Sean O’Malley will be fighting Louis Smolka at UFC 264. Be sure to check back with this page as often as possible for the latest updates.
Conor McGregor needs a win in this one. Since losing to Khabib, he has lost some of his credibility, granted some of his fans will remain loyal regardless of what endeavour he chooses to pursue.
We can see McGregor stepping away from MMA, if he doesn’t manage to put on a performance in this one—he could stoop low enough to be the next one to fight Jake Paul.
Dustin Poirier is a seasoned professional in the MMA game and was never going to be the pushover Conor had hoped for and faced all those years ago when he was a rising star.
Conor needs to come out firing and start landing some strikes, otherwise, over the course of the fight, we can see Poirier picking him apart. We back Conor to do it in this one. Expect a first or second-round TKO.
Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson goes into this one the clear favorite in the bookmakers eyes. A man that has done a lot for the MMA scene, with an excellent MMA record to back it.
He will face a smaller fighter with an inferior reach in Gilbert Burns. Burns was on a great run leading up to his last bout against Kamaru Usman, having won 7 fights in 7. But, Usman, the Champ, is seemingly unstoppable.
Burns has a lethal ground game and if he gets up close, he possesses lethal striking with knockout power. Wonderboy is a student of the sport and will be acutely aware of this, looking to keep distance at all times.
Thompson is 38-years old and has shown his class over the years. But, he faces an animal in the form of Burns and if this fight goes to the ground the Brazilian will quickly wrap things up.
Jennifer Maia had looked unbeatable for a period of time, until she fought Valentina Shevchenko a few fights ago and was taken to pieces. This is no slight on the Brazilian as Shevchenko is simply the best in women’s UFC right now.
Jennifer Maia has 3 wins in her last 5 fights and looked excellent in her last bout. She will face Jennifer “Evil” Eye, who has lost her last 2 consecutire fights.
Eye has some great striking, but her overall fighting game is lacking. Maia is the favorite to win this one and will likely prove to be the winner. We expect a win via TKO or decision.
