The biggest prize in world golf is up for grabs in 2020 The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. The worlds best golf players compete for a slice of the $15 million purses and were making some bold The Player Championship 2020 predictions in this article.
Northern Irelands Rory McIlroy is the +750 favorite to win 2020 The Players Championship and it is easy to see why. McIlroy won last years The Players Championship and is definitely the man to beat going into this years competition.
Bovada, where you can claim a $250 welcome bonus, price a McIlroy victory at +750 and a mere +155 to finish in the top five. There doesnt seem to be a lot of value here, especially when you consider only six golfers in history who have won multiple Players Championship.
Also, be aware that McIlroy was the clear favorite in the 2019 US Masters but he tied in 21st place.
Its difficult to bet against someone of McIlroys caliber but thats what our The Players 2020 expert picks suggest you do.
Patrick Cantlay is available at +2500 to win the 2020 Players Championship and +500 to finish in the top five positions. Cantlay has made 14 straight cuts since the last Players Championship and although he missed the Players cut in 2019 it shouldnt be a problem.
Cantlay ranks fifth in his approach play for the past six tournaments thanks to how well hes hitting irons. Hes never played on the Florida swing and the fast greens may cause a problem, but hes going to hit those greens with shots to spare and looks superb value.
Ricky Fowler (+3300) is a man you cant completely write off. The 2015 champion has struggled at The Players Championship since his victory, missing the cut twice in four years, but he can also boast of a second-place finish so he looks a good bet for the top five at +700.
Wed stay away from Brooks Koepka (+3300 to win) despite him being fancied by punters. Koepka is in terrible form and recently shot a nine-over par at the Arnold Pamer Invitational. This included a career-worst 81. His best finish in 2020 is the 17th place in Saudi Arabia against a weak field.
Brooks injured his knee in October, the knee he had surgery on, and has struggled since. Stay clear of him in the Players Championship betting.
That said, were going to stick our neck on the link and select a few bets to make. Here they are:
Patrick Cantlay to win at +2500
