The Texas Rangers are in the middle of a strange run of form. In their last ten matches, they have a 7-3 record, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.
Their last outing was a 2-0 home defeat to the Angels on Wednesday night. But they won that series 2-1, having beaten the LA-based franchise 12-0 in the opening fixture and 7-3 in the second match, to clinch the series.
As the tweet shows, the 12-0 win was the 23rd time this season the Rangers have wracked up double figures. This makes it hard to work out how a side can go from winning 12-0 to losing 2-0 in the space of two matches. At Arlington, the Rangers have a 42-21 record. That’s a home record that compares with the Dodgers and the Braves. Home form doesn’t seem a problem for Bruce Bochy’s team.
The Rangers have also won the opening match of their last five mini-series. The last time they didn’t win their opener was when they were swept by the Padres at the end of July. And that was on the road.
