The NFL is back for Week 7 of the regular season and two of the pre-season favorites will go head-to-head when the San Francisco 49ers host the Kansas City Chiefs at Levi’s Stadium.

The 49ers have been uncharacteristically weak defensively this season and come into this game with a 3-3 record, while the Chiefs have had a picture-perfect start to their pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl title by going 5-0 so far.

We’ll take a look at the game between these two sides and provide you with our best free NFL betting picks to try and earn you some extra cash while you enjoy the action on the field.

San Francisco 49ers v Kansas City Chiefs information

San Francisco 49ers season so far

The 49ers opened their season in the perfect way as they claimed a dominant 32-19 win over the New York Jets in week one. Despite a slow start in the first quarter, San Francisco blew the Jets away with a 13-0 second quarter which essentially got them the win with Brock Purdy throwing for 231 yards.

Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings was nowhere near as good for them though as they fell to a 23-17 defeat, with another slow start this time costing them. The team found themselves 10-0 down midway through the second quarter and while they fought to get back into it, they never had the lead at any point in the game.

In week 3 the 49ers should have moved to 2-1, but instead fell to 1-2 as they collapsed in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Rams. Leading 24-14 midway through the fourth, the 49ers conceded 13 unanswered points for their first loss against the Rams in the regular season since 2018.

They bounced back the following week against the New England Patriots with an explosive performance, hitting 30 points to the Patriots’ 13, including outscoring them 20-3 in the first half. They fell to defeat once again in week 5, as the Arizona Cardinals came from a 13-point deficit to keep San Francisco pointless in the entire second half and make a comeback to win 24-23.

Last time out however, they smashed through the Seattle Seahawks with a 36-24 win to get back to winning ways, but the defensive issues remain.

Kansas City Chiefs season so far

The reigning champions opened up their season with a big clash against the Baltimore Ravens in week 1 and came away with a vital victory, holding off a late fightback to claim a 27-20 win.

Week 2 wasn’t quite as straightforward as they had to rely on the genius of Patrick Mahomes once again to bail them out late on against the Cincinnati Bengals, coming from behind in the fourth quarter to claim a tight 26-25 win thanks to a last second field goal from Harrison Butker.

In week 3 it was another routine win over the Atlanta Falcons as the won 22-17, showing their excellent defense to keep their opponents to just three second-half points, before a dominant performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in week 4 saw them only concede points in the first quarter during a 17-10 win.

Their last outing saw them host the New Orleans Saints in week 5 and earn a dominant 26-13 victory, before a bye in week 6 means they’ll come into this game completely fresh and recharged.

NFL Picks: Kansas City Chiefs ML @ +102

The Chiefs are coming off a bye and the Niners have been uncharacteristically weaker on defense this season, which means they face a really difficult task of stopping the momentum of the current champions.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are lethal when it comes to exploiting gaps and weaknesses in the opposition, and after a week off they will be extra sharp coming into this.

This season, the Chiefs have been content to take underneath routes and that is another valid path to victory in this game. Add to that the fact that the 49ers haven’t won a game this season against a team with a winning record, and the fact Mahomes is 4-0 against them in his career (including two Super Bowl wins) and this looks a tremendous value bet.

It won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination, but the Chiefs seem much more on song this season and they should be able to extend their unbeaten start to the season. It’s rare that they’re underdogs, so take advantage and take them on the moneyline.

NFL Picks: Under 47 total match points @ -110

47 points isn’t out of the realm of possibility, but the stats tell us it’s unlikely in this game.

Four of the last five games where Kansas City have been on the road have stayed under the points total and four of their five games this season have failed to surpass the 47 point mark. In 49ers games this season they’re 3-3 with this points total, but they’re coming up against an elite defense in this game.

Expect the Chiefs to be patient in their approach and take any opportunities that come their way on offense, while ensuring they stay tight at the back for a win and keeping this game down in the points totals.
