The vacant WBO featherweight title is on the line this weekend as two fighters seek glory in their near futures. In one corner sits Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe who holds a professional boxing record of 24-2, with 16 victories coming by way of knockout. Opposing him will be Robeisy Ramírez who has an impressive 11 bouts in a row after losing his career debut match in a split decision. Since that initial fight, Ramírez has not let any fight come down to a split decision since then, winning all of his fights by either knockout or unanimous decision.
In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from each fighter, the predicted winner of the contest, and also some more notes about boxing betting.
As noted above, Ramírez bounced back from a tough career debut to go on a strong 11-fight and counting winning streak. With multiple title wins to his credit, the Cuban fighter has been able to stop almost all challengers en route to where he is now. In his first title bout, Ramírez was able to score a unanimous decision victory over Orlando Gonzalez Ruiz for the vacant NABF junior featherweight title in October 2021. In that fight, he wowed the crowd and was able to win on points in the 10-round battle.
In his last title matchup, this time against Abraham Nova in June of last year, Ramírez was able to capture two titles – the vacant WBO Global and USBA featherweight titles. In that fight, he was able to score a knockout in the fifth round of the matchup, stopping Nova in his tracks. In fact, his last three fights have ended in knockouts, further showcasing his ability to score wins from at any point in the contest.
One of the most decorated fighters in his weight class, Dogboe is a fighter that has accrued a number of titles in his boxing career as well. In fact, he has fought in an astounding 15 different title fights, winning 13 of them. This includes his winning championships from the West African Boxing Union featherweight championship to the WBO international featherweight title which he secured in July of last year. Indeed with 16 of his victories coming by way of knockout, he certainly does not play games in the boxing ring.
It is also important to note that Dogboe has only fallen to one fighter in the past, twice to Emanuel Navarrete in the span of two years. In that first fight, he lost via unanimous decision and then in the rematch by way of TKO. That said, since his return to boxing in 2020 he has not lost in any bout he has entered and is currently riding a four-fight winning streak.
Prediction: Another great boxing bout to kick off the second quarter of the year, take Ramírez here to knock off Dogboe in a classic title tilt.
