What to look for from: Naoya Inoue knockout win

The champion is currently coming off a sensational win over Luis Nery where he was able to score the knockout blow in the sixth round at the Tokyo Dome. This was the Japanese fighter’s eighth straight knockout win and of course that gives him 24 total knockout victories so far in his career. Nicknamed “Monster,” he is of course known for his exceptional punching power, possessing a knockout-to-win percentage of 88.88%, with that number jumping up to 90.90% in world title matches. Of course, his accolades speak for themselves as he is the first and only boxer to win the undisputed championship, at super bantamweight, having held all four major titles since 2023.

What to look for from: TJ Doheny knockout win

Entering this fight, Doheny also possesses a sensational amount of power as well that his opponent should definitely be on the lookout for. Nicknamed “Power,” he is also known for this amazing punching power, possessing a knockout ratio of 76.92%. Challenging Inoue for his undisputed championship, Doheny would certainly like a knockout victory at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo. In his last three fights, he has been able to notch knockout wins, with his second-to-last bout ending in a first-round TKO against Japhethlee Llamido. While he did fall to Sam Goodman via unanimous decision back in March 2023, he has rebounded nicely with three different knockout victories to add to his career total of 20.

What to look for from: Inoue winning via points

While he is mainly known for knockout prowess, Inoue is of course capable of winning via decision when necessary. The last time a bout he competed in went to decision was way back in November 2019 against Nonito Donaire at the Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. This matchup was important as he not only won via unanimous decision but also notched the WBA (Super) bantamweight title in the process. Additionally, this fight was the bantamweight final in the World Boxing Super Series. With three decision wins in his career, he is much more likely to end a fight via knockout, but perhaps this contest will go the distance.

What to look for from: Doheny winning via points

Like his opponent, Doheny is much more likely to end a fight he enters into with a knockout win as opposed to a decision based on points. Kicking off his career with a record of 21-0, the last time a fight went the distance for Doheny was also in the last decade, occurring against Ryosuke Iwasa in August 2018. This bout was also in Japan at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. Again, he is much more likely to score a knockout here since his last decision win occurred over six years ago.

What to look for from: Fight ending in a draw

In the scenario where both fighters compete to a stalemate, the odds of that occurring currently stand at +3500. In their careers, neither athlete has had a fight end in a draw which explains why these odds are so high and particularly unlikely of occurring. Given the punching power of each fighter, it would appear that a knockout for either one is much more likely.

Prediction: As the betting markets suggest, this fight will come down to a knockout finish from these two fantastic combatants, but Inoue has the edge given his tremendous finishing power
