For basketball fans needing a summer roundball pick-me-up, look no further than the 2024 edition of the BIG3 basketball season. For those not familiar, the BIG3 is a 3-on-3 basketball league co-founded by legendary hip-hop musician and actor Ice Cube and consists of 12 teams whose rosters include former NBA stars and international players. Per a recent update from MyBookie, the site recently shared its futures betting markets for the 2024 season, which includes the 2024 outright winner of the BIG3 Championship. In this case, the predicted winner from MyBookie is the 2023 champion, Enemies (450), coming back and repeating as champions of the BIG3 in 2024. However, this will not be easy as they will face some strong competition from a slew of teams like Bivouac (+550), Triplets (+600), and more.

In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest news coming to MyBookie along with some additional thoughts and information about the sportsbook and beyond.

Enemies enters this season aiming for a repeat title

Per the update from MyBookie, Enemies is the top selection and they have an impressive squad ready to defend their championship. The team is coached by former player Nick Young who helped them to the title last year – led by the three co-captains former NBA players Jordan Crawford, Isaiah Austin, and Elijah Stewart. Crawford has played for a long time in various professional leagues after being a first-round draft pick back in 2010 by the New Jersey Nets. Austin is a veteran player who has played a significant amount overseas, and at over seven feet tall, he is one of the most intimidating post-presences in the league. Moreover, the duo of Stewart and former Sacramento King/Reno Bighorn Quincy Miller make up a dynamic roster that can contend with many other teams athletically and on a skill level.

Bivouac (+550), coached by legendary player and trash-talker, Gary Payton, is another squad that could contend for the crown with their talented roster. The squad is captained by Gerald Green who was known for his high-flying dunks while in the NBA and also as the 2007 NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion and a former first-round pick. The squad also has another notable name on its roster in Corey Brewer, who helped the University of Florida to back-to-back national titles in the late 2000s. In an interesting twist, Green’s younger brother, Garlon, is also on the squad and is a high-flyer in his own right. For instance, he participated in the German Basketball Bundesliga All-Star Game in 2016 and was the winner of the slam dunk contest. Rounding out the roster, Bivouac also includes former Louisville Cardinal Jaylen Johnson and international basketball veteran, Javier Carter.

Triplets and 3’s Company present other possibilities

Led by WNBA Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie, the Triplets (+600) perhaps have the most accomplished player in the league in former NBA All-Star, Joe Johnson. Known as “Iso Joe” during his career, he is one of 50 NBA players to score 20,000 career points after being selected 10th overall by the Boston Celtics in 2001. A seven-time NBA All-Star, Johnson is also a former BIG3 Champion (2019) and a three-time BIG3 MVP (2019, 2021, and 2023). Joining him on this squad is another brother tandem in Jannero and Jeremy Pargo who serve as co-captains of the team. Both players spent time in the league and are skilled veterans. Meanwhile, the Triplets will also be able to rely on the services of other former NBA players like Jeff Ayres (Indiana Pacers) and Jamario Moon (most notably for the Toronto Raptors and the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest).

Our final squad spotlight, 3’s Company has a loaded team with some great star power. The squad is captained by former Kansas Jayhawk and Miami Heat stalwart, Mario Chalmers. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Chalmers was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2008 NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament after piloting his team to the 2008 NCAA Championship. After that, he was the starting point guard for two championship-winning teams with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013. Joining him on this team is his former college rival in K-State’s Michael Beasley. Coming out of Notre Dame Prep, Beasley’s freshman year with the Wildcats is still regarded as one of, if not the best freshman season for any college basketball player in the 2000s. Finally, the defensive presence on this team is none other than former sledgehammer Reggie Evans who was a defensive force during his prime.
