A website known for having some exotic betting options in the past, especially when it comes to politics, MyBookie has rolled a special wagers section on United Kingdom Politics. Per the main MyBookie website, the online sportsbook has the overall majority party favorite in the UK this upcoming election cycle as the Labour Party at -111. This is closely followed by no overall majority at +136, along with the Conservative Party being the underdog to take the majority at +500. During the next U.K. general election cycle, which is scheduled to be held no later than January 2025, it would appear MYBookie favors the Labour Party to assume the majority.

For this article, SBS will be taking a deeper look at the latest news coming from MyBookie along with some more thoughts and notes about using the website.

Per one report, while MyBookie favors the Labour Party to assume control of the House of Commons, it will be an uphill battle based on current numbers. As of December 2022, of the 650 seats in the House of Commons (326 seats needed for a majority), the Conservative party has the majority at 356 current seats. This is followed by the Labour Party and their leader Keir Starmer at 194 total seats. The Scottish National Party is in third place in the House of Commons and has 44 overall seats.

Per one source, the next election is scheduled to be held no later than early 2025, after the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 repealed the Fix-term Parliaments Act 2011. Right now, the Conservative Party elected 365 but has a current base of 356 which is down nine seats from the 2019 U.K. general election. Conversely, the Labour Party elected 202 to the House of Commons and has lost eight members, giving it 194 current seats. In terms of increases, the largest has been from the independent party group which has risen 15, but only gives them 15 total members in the House.
