Who’s ready for some baseball? Now that the wait is over, we can say that the big day is almost here. That’s right, on Thursday, Opening Day will arrive for Major League Baseball and people across the planet can’t wait for things to get underway. Plenty of superstars are ready to make a splash. With that said, the Mets are among our picks for 2025 MLB Opening Day. Will they come out on top?
It goes without saying, but there’s plenty of focus on slugger Juan Soto ahead of the season-opener against the Houston Astros. Soto, who was a standout for the New York Yankees last season, is getting ready for his Mets debut. After the monster contract he signed, there’s a ton of pressure on him to step and deliver. Mets fans everywhere are hoping he can get off to a hot start.

“I can’t complain about Yankee fans,” Soto said while on NBC’s Today show not long ago. “They were amazing, day in, day out, the whole season last year. And I really appreciate not only Yankees fans but the Dominican community. They were showing off, and I was really happy for that.”

We don’t have to tell you that there’s a lot of pressure on the Bronx Bombers to have another tremendous season. Last year, the Yankees won the AL Pennant and reached the World Series, but they ended up falling to the Dodgers. This time around, the new-look Yankees will be ready to make some noise.
It’s going to be a bit different not seeing Soto in pinstripes anymore, as he indeed is over in Queens getting ready to make plays for the Mets. Still, Aaron Judge will surely be in the AL MVP conversation, while Carlos Rodon has cemented himself as the ace of the staff, especially with Gerrit Cole out due to Tommy John Surgery. Aaron Boone is starting Rodon for Opening Day too.
“I feel really good about giving him the ball,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said when asked about giving Rodon the ball for Game 1. “He’s in the right frame of mind and throwing the ball well. I’m excited to do it, and then at the end of the day, it’s just the first.”
As you might have been able to guess, the Yankees are head-turning favorites with their -110 betting odds. The Brewers are the underdogs at +125. Something tells us that there’s going to be an offensive explosion at Yankee Stadium, with Judge hitting a homer in the action too. Look for it to be a memorable Thursday night in the Bronx. Lastly, in the AL West, Seattle is hoping to start the season off hot under Dan Wilson. The Mariners legend is entering his first full season as manager and he has the goal of getting this team back to the postseason. Since 2021, the Mariners have only been able to reach the playoffs once. There have been some lean years for the franchise, but the hope is that things can change moving forward.
The Mariners are getting ready to open the season against the Athletics, who have said goodbye to Oakland. Standout pitcher Logan Gilbert is getting the star for the M’s and he’s going to want to have a performance to remember. Offensively, the Mariners are led by stud center fielder Julio Rodriguez, while catcher Cal Raleigh just signed a massive extension leading up to Opening Day. It was one he fully deserved too.
This is a matchup that the Mariners should have no issues coming out on top of, especially with this game taking place at T-Mobile Park. Soon enough, we’ll see if Seattle will be able to get the job done or if the Athletics will end up posting a bit of an upset. Seattle is the favorite with its -110 odds to come out on top. We think they’ll be able to do just that, as we’re going with Seattle to be victorious.
