Washington State Considers Opening Up

Governor Jay Inslee seems keen on opening up sports betting on tribal lands. The state of Washington currently has tribal casinos across the state. In fact there are nearly 40!

The largest is the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn. It is part of a hotel complex and includes over 3,000 slot machines. This is no small fry!

So it is no surprise that these casinos are looking to expand into the sports betting industry. The governor has entered into a preliminary agreement with 15 tribes this last week. One more tribe was later added by the State Gambling Commission.

The Colville, Cowlitz, Jamestown S’Klallam, Kalispel, Lummi, Muckleshoot, Puyallup, Shoalwater Bay, Snoqualmie, Spokane, Squaxin Island, Stillaguamish, Suquamish, Swinomish, and Tulalip tribes will all have the ability to offer sports betting at their casinos.

The only remaining step is to get approval from the Secretary of the Interior. This seems likely. The main question is when. They hope to have their operations up and running by the start of the National Football League season.

Mobile Sports Betting Increasing

Mobile betting is increasingly becoming the most common way to access online betting sites. Recognizing this trend, we have put together a guide for the best mobile betting apps. The best sites are using a mobile-first approach to designing their websites.

This trend has only accelerated with the pandemic. As people have been less able to travel to physical sportsbooks, people have been logging on and placing bets with the swipe of a finger, rather than with the click of a mouse.

For many sites we are hearing that 60% of their customers are logging in via mobile devices, be it their smartphones or their tablets. Convenience seems to be key here.
