Following an excellent race at the San Marino motorcycle Grand Prix, the MotoGP World Championship stays in Italy for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. In the prior race on the circuit at San Marino, Marc Marquez was able to pull away and score the victory over pole position rider Francesco Bagnaia. In terms of the overall MotoGP World Championship standings, another Spanish rider, Jorge Martin, is still the leading contender here with a slim seven-point lead over Bagnaia and a bigger margin over Marquez, his countrymate. That said, with the 2024 MotoGP season over halfway done, the riders are coming down to the home stretch with four racers still in contention for making a championship push if things break their way. This is why the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix holds some substantial value for all four of the favored racers below.

In this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from each of these amazing MotoGP racers along with a predicted race winner and even more notes about MotoGP wagering.

First Contender Spotlight: Francesco Bagnaia (+175)

Entering this race, Bagnaia has been the most consistent rider in terms of scoring wins on the circuit this season. With six (6) victories in the year to date, the most of all riders, the Italian racer has consistently been at the top of each race he has entered this season. In the last MotoGP World Championship race at San Marino, he notched a second-place finish. This was helpful in his push up the standings as Martin finished in a disappointing 15th at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli track. Were it not for a retirement outing at the Aragon Grand Prix, Bagnaia could perhaps be the points leader in this article.

Second Racer Spotlight: Jorge Martin (+250)

In his last outing, the 2024 MotoGP World Championship points leader had a tough finish at the San Marino Grand Prix, finishing in 15th place. However, with 312 total points in the season, he is the leading racer for a reason and one of the most accomplished riders in the field. Prior to that 15th-place finish, Martin had notched three consecutive second-place finishes in a row and has also scored two victories this season and counting. A solid foil to Bagnaia, he currently leads him by seven points this season and has consistently scored high in each race he has entered. This includes nine top-three finishes this season.

Third Contender Spotlight: Marc Marquez (+325)

Our third racer spotlight, Marquez is coming off a huge win at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and is angling up the standings coming off back-to-back victories. Though the Spanish racer is lower on the standings than the aforementioned two riders above, there have been a variety of highlights this season for him to look back on already. This includes his back-to-back wins as of late along with some consistent racing earlier this year that showcases three second-place finishes. In his last five contests, he has also finished in the top five on all five different occasions and is giving the top two riders some excellent consistent competition.

Last Athlete Spotlight: Enea Bastianini (+500)

Our final racer showcase, Bastianini has ripped off seven consecutive top-five finishes as of late and has been scoring well in each race he enters. However, he has not been able to consistently win races which is why he is near the top of the standings, but not at the top of the mountain. However, with one win at the British motorcycle Grand Prix not too long ago, there are perhaps thoughts that the Italian racer is peaking at the right time. This school of thought also translates as well since he has performed at a high level since his 18th place finish earlier this season at the Catalan motorcycle Grand Prix. Moreover, he is coming off a third-place outing at the San Marino Grand Prix which now gives him seven total top-three finishes on the season.

Prediction: Another awesome race on the MotoGP World Championship calendar, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will fall to the hometown favorite Bagnaia. While all four of these racers present compelling winning arguments, Bagnaia has just been the most consistent winning rider of all the aforementioned athletes on this list and is too hard to pick against consistently unless something changes.
