The Panthers have been solid favorites so far in the NHL, claiming victory in 58 of 80 games that they have been the bookies’ favorites in so far this campaign.

So far this season, the overs market has been a solid one to back in games, including Florida. There have been over six goals in 52 of 87 games so far, including two of the games so far in the series.

Over the last ten games, they have accumulated a 7-3 run, scoring 38 goals for an average of 3.8 goals per game, and conceding 28 goals, for an average of 2.8 goals conceded per game.

Over the course of the season though they’ve been the very best offensive team in the NHL. They scored an average of 4.12 goals per game and took an average of 37.2 shots per game, two totals that had them ranked number one across the league.

The Capitals have proven to be a steady underdog in games this season, winning 17 of 33 games when they were priced that way.

Backing the over in a Capitals game has been a positive experience for more than half the season, as they reached the over 6.5 goals target on 45 of 87 occasions across the campaign.

Washington have gone 5-5 in their last ten games, scoring 30 goals for an average of 3 goals per game, while defensively, they have allowed 25 goals for an average of 2.5 per game.

Across the season their team performed relatively well across all metrics. They have scored an average of 3.3 goals per game for a league ranking of 10th, while they have conceded 2.96 goals per game for a defensive ranking of 13th.

When it comes to creating shooting opportunities, they have been better defensively than offensively. They have averaged 31.3 shots per game for a league ranking of 14th across the NHL, while defensively they only allowed 29 shots per game which puts them as the sixth-best defense.

Home advantage and overs!

In games as tight as these in the rest of this series, home advantage could prove to be absolutely vital and that’s what Florida have got in this game.

The Panthers have been excellent at finding the net all season, but it hasn’t quite clicked for them in this series and the Capitals have been able to match them across the four games to date.

The game will be entertaining, thrilling, and dramatic for sure, but it’s hard to look past the strength of their roster in a game that they know is a must-win before game six back in Washington a couple of days later.

Despite this, goals are more sure than the result itself. Both teams must go for it, knowing the next game could be the last, and that should lead to plenty of opportunities. Back to the overs market and watch the cash come rolling in.
