Slated for March 2, 2025, the 97th Academy Awards honors the best in motion pictures and the arts and is a premier showcase for the entertainment industry. For this year’s event, Emilia Perez received the most nominations with 13, followed by The Brutalist and Wicked with 10 each. With that in mind, Everygame has gotten in on the action with some fantastic betting markets for qualified customers to check out prior to the event. Per the latest markets on the site, you can check out lines on everything from “Best Original Screenplay” to Best Actress, Director, Animated Feature Film, etc. Of course, while these lines are subject to change, it is important to note the variety of categories available for fans of all kinds of cinematic categories.

For this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest gaming news coming to Everygame along with some additional notes and info regarding the site and more.

The Brutalist is the leading contender in various categories

An epic period drama, The Brutalist stars Adrien Brody as a Hungarian-born Jewish Holocaust survivor who immigrates to the United States, where he struggles to achieve the American Dream until a new individual enters his life. The film premiered in September of last year and was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the American Film Institute. Additionally, the movie earned a whopping 10 nominations at the 97th Academy Awards (including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor for Brody). Currently, at Everygame, The Brutalist leads the way as the number one contender to win Best Picture at -125, followed by Emilia Perez (+400) and also Conclave (+500). Additionally, Brody is also the favorite to take home Best Actor with odds currently set at -180. Timothy Chalamet is in close contention here for his portrayal of Bob Dylan at +175.

While The Brutalist certainly has its share of accolades it can accrue at the event, Emilia Perez is also in the mix for taking home an array of honors. Released in May of last year, it won the Jury Prize and the Best Actress award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival for its female ensemble cast. Per sources, the film was positively received by critics in America and Europe but was critically panned in Mexico by audiences and critics, who criticized its cultural representation. Regardless of the controversy, Everygame has Emilia Perez in the fray for winning a couple of honors. This includes Zoe Saldana as the overwhelming favorite (-800) to take home the award for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role.” Additionally, director Jacques Audiard (+800) could be a dark horse for the honor of Best Director.

Anora is the strong favorite for Best Original Screenplay

An American comedy-drama film directed by Sean Baker, Anora is the story of a “beleaguered marriage between the title character (Mikey Madison), a young sex worker, and Vanya Zakharov, the son of a Russian oligarch.” Receiving critical acclaim, it grossed $33.8 million worldwide on a $6 million budget, becoming Baker’s highest-grossing film. Additionally, the film has received a variety of accolades, including winning the Palme d’Or and also being named one of the top 10 films of 2024. Moreover, the film received six nominations at the Academy Awards, where it is the strong favorite to win best screenplay (Everygame has it at -400). Madison though is in a battle with Demi Moore (The Substance) for best actress at +175 to Moore’s -150.

Moore’s performance in The Substance is spectacular

Noted above, after winning the Golden Globe at the start of the year, Moore (-150) is once again favored to take home the honor of Best Actress per Everygame’s odds. A body horror film, The Substance is the story of a fading celebrity (Moore), who, after being fired by her producer due to her age, uses a black market drug to create a much younger version of herself. In addition to the top accolade for a female actress, The Substance is also up for the honor of Best Picture (+2500) and Screenplay (+1400). While the latter two categories are more of a longshot, Moore’s performance has been given significant praise.

The Substance has already won a number of awards. For instance, at the 77th Cannes Festival, Fargeat won Best Screenplay and it also competed for the Palme d’Or, which it lost to Anora. At the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, the film received five nominations, with everything from Best Motion Picture to Best Screenplay. At this year’s Academy Awards, the film again received five award nominations
