Karmine Corp and Misfits Academy Premier have dominated the major League of Legends spring and summer tournaments this spring and summer. As the elite LoL squads contest the European Masters Summer League competition, it’s those two teams that oddsmakers are again backing to make the most noise.
French club Karmine Corp already shows tournament wins in the Ligue Francaise de League of Legends Spring and EU Masters spring championships. Karmine Corp swept Misfits Academy Premier 3-0 in the best-of-five final to win the LFL Spring tourney. They were 3-1 winners over Excel UK in the best-of-five final to capture the EU Masters Spring title.

Heading into the summer session of the European Masters, it is Karmine Corp which is holding down the favorite’s position at odds of +250. Misfits Premier Academy, also based in France, are right there with them, though. They can be had for a betting line of +275.
Berlin International Gaming (BIG) are the third betting choice at odds of +350. The German-based squad has posted tournament wins at both the 2021 PRM Pro Division Spring and Summer Playoffs.

At the spring session of the European Masters, Karmine Corp were a force to be reckoned with. There were a perfect 6-0 in group play. UCAM Esports Club and Kaamine Corp both made it to the semifinals a perfect 7-0. There, Karmine Corp were 2-1 winners over UCAM Esports Club in the best-of-three set.
Karmine Corp earned the €40,000 grand prize for their victory.
In the LFL Spring series, Karmine Corp didn’t drop a single game, going 8-0. Along with their 3-0 sweep of Misfits Premier Academy in the final, they also posted a 1-0 triumph over the Misfits in the group stage play.
Though they’ve reached the final in two of the biggest European LoL tournaments during the spring/summer season, it’s been a bit of a frustrating run for the Misfits Premier Academy squad.
The positive news is that they come into this event off an impressive performance at the LFL Summer series. The Misfits rebounded from an earlier 1-0 loss to Karmine Corp in preliminary play to beat the EU Masters spring champs in the final. Misfits Premier Academy bounced back from a Game 1 loss in the best-of-five final to win the next three games.
At the EU Masters spring event, the Misfits went 5-1 in group stage play to top their group. But eventual finalists Excel UK, who were a middling 3-3 in group play, stunned Misfits Premier Academy 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
Misfits Premier Academy got to the final of the LFL spring series but went 0-4 during the tournament in head-to-head meetings with Karmine Corp.
Two years removed from their European Masters Summer title, BIG have looked to be a step behind the two front runners all season long. Their victories in the Prime League Pro Division Spring and Summer Playoffs came without the requirement of dealing with either Karmine Corp of Misfits Premier Academy in either competition.
BIG went through the group stage of the European Masters Spring tourney a perfect 6-0. However, they were swept 2-0 by mousesports in the best-of-three quarterfinal.
Qualifying and Play-In stages of the European Masters Summer Series began August 16. From an original collection of 28 teams, the competition has been reduced to 16 squads.
These clubs are now allocated into a quartet of four team divisions for the group stage of the competition. Playing a double round-robin format, that is set to get underway on August 29. The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
Misfits Premier Academy head Group A, where they’ll be joined by UCAM Esports Club (+1600). Movistar Riders (+1000) are the top contenders in Group B, certainly the weakest of the four divisions.
BIG should have easy sailing through Group C. No other squad in their division shows odds shorter than +2500 to win the tournament. In Group D, Karmine Corp will be the favorites but mousesports (+600) have already displayed the ability to play the giant killer in tournament action earlier this season and will present a challenge to the French team.
Playoffs are a single-elimination bracket, with all three rounds slated for the best-of-five series. The playoffs will get underway on September 9 and the championship final is scheduled to be held on September 19.
