A fantastic competition, the 2024 French Open kicks off this month with some amazing competitors on both the men’s and women’s sides of the event. On the men’s side of the competition, Novak Djokovic is the defending champion and this year he will be contending for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title. Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek is the defending champion for the women’s singles bracket. One of the main storylines regarding the men’s bracket is the battle between Djokovic and Jannik Sinner for the ATP No. 1 singles ranking. Conversely, Swiatek is looking to make some significant history here as well. If she can win this tournament, she will become the third woman in the Open Era to win three consecutive French Open titles.

For this report, SBS will be going over the men’s and women’s brackets of the 2024 French Open along with a predicted winner in each tournament and with more notes about tennis betting.

2024 French Open Men’s Singles Bracket Breakdown

Analysis: Entering this tournament, the tennis world has a pretty consistent “big four” of competitors at the top of the world rankings. In addition to the aforementioned Djokovic and Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev are also in contention for taking home the gold in Paris. Of course, the Joker is perhaps the best tennis player in history at least according to major title victories with 24. The 2024 Australian Open champion, Skinner is one of tennis’ rising stars and at only 22 years of age, looks to have a ton of time to rack up even more major championships. While he has only reached the quarterfinals at the French Open (just once back in 2020), he is playing at a higher level than he ever has in his career, so he is primed for a run at Roland Garros.

Another sensational young tennis player to keep an eye on is Alcaraz. Covered in this space before, he is another bright star in the sport after turning professional in 2019 at the age of 16. Already in his career, he has won thirteen ATP Tour singles titles, including two major titles (the 2022 US Open and the 2023 Wimbledon Championships). As of this article’s writing, he is recognized as a top-three player in the world. Finally, Medvedev is another competitor on this list who has also been ranked as the No. 1 player in the world at some point in his career. He is a former US Open champion (2021) and has also accrued 20 ATP Tour singles titles in his career.

Projected men’s winner: Carlos Alcaraz (+180)

The Pick: Alcaraz has been close in the past to winning the French Open, losing in the semifinals last year. However, this could be his opportunity to brush past the field and assume his place at the top of the tennis world once again

2024 French Open Women’s Singles Bracket Breakdown

Analysis: In another loaded tournament, the top four of the French Open on the women’s side features a ton of great star power. Starting with the favorite, Swiatek is a four-time major singles champion, having most of her success at the French Open with three wins already at this tournament. Recognized as the best player in the world for women’s tennis, she has racked up 20 singles titles in her career at just 22 years old. One of her fiercest rivals though, will have something to say though about her trying for history here as Aryna Sabalenka looks to continue her excellent 2024. The Belarusian tennis star has won back-to-back Australian Open titles, including this year’s edition, and is looking to improve on her semifinal appearance at the French Open last year.

Another name to look out for at this tournament is America’s Coco Gauff. The winner of the 2023 US Open, she is another young star on the women’s side of tennis and is currently ranked in the top three of the women’s rankings. In addition to her great singles resume, she also has been recognized as a world No. 1 player in doubles tennis in the past as well. Finally, Elena Rybakina is a dark horse player here to win as another member of the top four women’s tennis players in the world. She is the 2022 Wimbledon winner and has notched eight titles on the WTA Tour to date.

Projected women’s winner: Iga Swiatek (-120)

The Pick: Swiatek enters this competition, like she normally does, with a huge target on her back. However, while she does have a bigger spotlight than normal on her this year, it won’t matter as the Polish tennis pro is the best in the world for a reason and will win again in Paris
