With reigning champion Rafael Nadal having to withdraw due to injury, the French Open will crown a new champion in the 2023 edition of the famed tournament. Currently ranked again as the No. 1 player in the world, Djokovic is searching for his second win this season after claiming the title in Melbourne. While he of course has had success across all major venues, the French Open is perhaps Joker’s weak point (if you can say that) when it comes to Grand Slam Tournaments. Though he is a two-time champion, his winning percentage there (84 percent) is the lowest of any of his major tournament outputs. That being said, he is still a threat to win any tournament he plays in by a large margin.
Rune was able to accrue his fourth singles title earlier this year by notching a victory at the 2023 Bavarian Open which was his second time winning the event. Moving into the top ten in the world rankings, the Danish player has been on a steady ascent up the ranks, even defeating Djokovic earlier this year at the Rome Masters. In addition too Joker, Rune was also able to knock off Casper Ruud as well in this tournament, another player who has been among the best in the world at times.
The shining star from Greece, Tsitispas made the finals of the Australian Open earlier this year and also the semifinals of the Italian Open as well. While he has performed well overall, he has yet to secure a title this season, with his last win coming at the Mallorca Championships last June in Spain. The Greek star is an awesome player when he gets going and has tangled with Djokovic and Alcaraz in the finals of multiple tournaments as well. While he fell earlier this year to both, at the Australian Open (Djokovic) and Barcelona (Alcaraz), he has made 26 career finals to date and could do so again in Paris.
Prediction: This will be another two-horse race between Alcaraz and Djokovic, but the younger superstar (Alcaraz) will take over his legendary counterpart once again.
