Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch are two of the most prominent drivers in NASCAR racing today. Both are past NASCAR Cup Series champions.
However, neither is listing a win in the Daytona 500 on their impressive resumes of racing success. Oddsmakers, though, are of the opinion that this could be the year it finally happens for one of these two drivers.
Blaney and Busch are set as the +1200 co-favorites to win this year’s race. The Daytona 500, NASCAR’s signature event, also serves as the season opener to the NASCAR Cup Series season.

Sunday’s race will cover 200 laps and 500 miles over the 2.5-mile long Daytona International Speedway superspeedway oval. Stages are 65, 65 and 70 laps.
There are eight former winners listed among the entries for the 2025 Daytona 500. They include the likes of Jimmie Johnson, Michael McDowell, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, William Byron, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Austin Cindric and Austin Dillon.
Let’s look at the top contenders for the Daytona 500 title.
Since 2022, Blaney has led 169 laps on superspeedways. He’s won four career races on these layouts, including a 2021 summer victory at Daytona.
The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion was runner-up last year, so consistency is certainly part of his repertoire.
Last season was a streak stopper for Busch and not in a good way. For the first time in 16 years, he didn’t win a single NASCAR Cup Series race.
He has won on this track in the Daytona summer race in 2008. However, his best run in the Daytona 500 was a second-place finish in 2016.
In 15 Daytona 500 starts, Ford driver Keselowski has never won the Daytona 500. In fact, he’s only cracked the top 10 three times.
Keselowski was third in 2014 and fourth in 2013. He ran ninth overall in 2022. In his last two years, he’s been 22nd and 33rd.
The reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, Logano has led 208 laps around superspeedways since 2022. That’s tops among active NASCAR drivers.
The three-time Cup Series champ for Team Penske, Logano was the Daytona 500 champion in 2015.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver ran second to 100-1 longshot Michael McDowell in the 2021 Daytona 500. That’s his only top-five finish in the race.
Elliott ran 14th last year and in 2017. He was 10th in 2022.
Between 2016-2000, Hamlin won the Daytona 500 three times. As is the case with many NASCAR tracks, Hamlin is the top dog in many categories at Daytona.
He’s led more laps in the Daytona 500 than any active driver. Hamlin has run at the front of this race for 576 laps.
The driver of the famous No. 24 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Byron is also the defending Daytona 500 champion.
Amazingly, that’s the only time he’s finished in the top-20 in the race. Byon stated the 2019 Daytona 500 on the pole and wound up finishing 21st.
There’s a lot of love in the NASCAR betting odds for Larson every week during the season. However, history says give him a pass when the drivers arrive at a superspeedway.
In 21 races at Daytona, not only has Larson never won, he’s never run in the top five.
Bovada is offering +900 odds on any driver winning both Stage 1 and Stage 2 and going on to also win the race. If you think Blaney or Busch are going to be the winner, then you might also want to play a prop at BetUS which is offering -260 odds on the the 2025 Daytona 500 producing a first-time winner.
BetUS also is offering +250 odds on there being a last-lap pass for the victory. Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves is making his Daytona 500 debut. The former Dancing With The Stars winner is given a betting line of +1000 to wind up among the top five finishers in the race.
Larson is set at Betonline as the +525 chalk to win the NASCAR Cup Series title in 2025. He previously won the title in 2021.
Christopher Bell (+550) is the second betting choice. He’s followed in the betting line by Byron (+600), Blaney (+700) and Hamlin (+750).
In last year’s race, Blaney won Stage 2. However, he was among 23 cars caught up in a massive wreck with eight laps to go in the race and finished 30th.
However, it’s hard to ignore how well he traditionally runs on superspeedways and not think that Blaney is due to win America’s race one of these years. So why not back him to do so this year? Take Blaney to win the Daytona 500 in the NASCAR picks.
