Back the Braves for another win and to cover the spread

Fresh from their series win over the Dodgers, the Braves are back at Truist Park to take on the St Louis Cardinals. This is the second match of the mini-series, the Cardinals won the first, so the Braves are favorites for yet another win in this so far outstanding season. Here we name our latest MLB betting picks for the match.

Braves To Win And Cover The Spread Against The Cardinals

The battle at Dodgers Stadium was to see who was the real top dog of the National League. The Braves came out on top, taking the series 3-1, only losing the fourth match.

All this hasn’t had much impact on the betting to win the National Pennant. The Braves went into the series at +140, and they are still the same odds. The Dodgers saw their odds drift from +175 to +180 on the back of the series loss.

The result shows the Braves are the team to beat. But on the flip side, Dave Roberts knows this isn’t the most important series. That will come if all goes to form and the two franchises clash in the National League Conference Series.

Betting to win the 2023 World Series

The series win for the Braves didn’t make much difference to the betting to win the NLCS, and it also hasn’t had any impact on the betting to win the 2023 World Series.

Before the start of the series, the Braves were +300, and the Dodgers were +400, and that’s exactly where they still are now with the best MLB World Series betting sites

The Orioles and Astros are +700, with the Rays at +800, the Mariners at +1000, and the Rangers at +1100. The Rangers have lost a couple of series against the Twins recently, and they are involved in a three-way scrap at the top of the AL West with the Mariners and the Astros, which seems to be affecting their odds negatively.

The best MLB betting sites currently favor the Astros and the Mariners. But such is the nature of that division at the moment, the odds are changing on an almost daily basis.

Braves vs. Cardinals Betting

The Braves are favored to win the 2023 World Series, and the Cardinals sit bottom of the NL Central, cut adrift from the fourth-place Pittsburgh Pirates. So it’s no major shock to see that the Braves are favored to win the match.

After last night’s shock 10-6 win for the Cardinals, the odds are now even more in the favor of the Braves. After going into the opening match at -155 on the money line, the Braves are -275, with the Cardinals at +242 (they were +130 to win match one).

On the handicap line, the Braves are -130 to cover the spread. The Cardinals are +110 to win with it. Finally, on the over/under market, the spread is set at 9, with over at -106 and under at -114.

Braves in cruise control

This season, the Braves are performing at the same level they did in 2021 when Brian Snitker led the franchise to their fourth World Series win. The Braves are regarded as the best franchise team in the MLB, and this season, they have Ronald Acuña Jr. performing on another level.

As a result, the outfielder is the -180 favorite to be named the National League MVP for 2023.

Heading into this series, the Braves have been the favorite in 124 of their matches, winning 82. They have a 90-47 record this season, which is a win percentage of .657, the highest in the MLB. In their last ten, they are 7-3.

Struggling Cardinals

The Cardinals are simply having a torrid 2023. They topped the NL Central with a win percentage of .574 in 2022 but lost to Philadelphia in the Wild Card series. Even though losing two from two in the postseason was disappointing, the Cardinals did have something to build on heading into 2023. This makes the current season all the more bewildering

They showed some resilience in the recent series win over the Padres when they came back from losing the opening fixture 4-1 to take the series by two games to one.

They failed to capitalize on the series win, losing the opening two games of the following series to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Oliver Marmol’s team did manage to end the series on a high, taking the third match 6-4. Unfortunately, the damage was already done.

Our Picks

The Cardinals got off to a flier last night and will be looking to seal the series when the teams meet later. But tonight, we expect the Braves to be sharper and for the match to be a different story.

We are making over 9 runs on our first pick of the match at -106, and we are also going for the Braves to win and cover the spread. Lightning doesn’t strike twice too often. And especially for a franchise team as good as the Braves.
