One of the most well-known game franchises of all time, Grand Theft Auto 6 is perhaps the most anticipated game of the 2020’s. As video game fans are well aware, the game is notable for its immersive sandbox-style play setting, addictive gameplay, amazing score and its legendary replay ability. With developer Rockstar Games maintaining a tight lid on when GTA 6 will be released, online sportsbook Bovada has got in on the fun by providing an option to bet on the future main setting of GTA 6. According to ComicBook.com, fans can now bet on 12 different real-world locations that all have their own respective odds.
In this article, SBS will go over what locations are being favored for the next game in the series and also some more information from Bovada.
Leading the way is a trio of favorites that will be familiar to fans of the GTA series. Per the report from ComicBook.com, Bovada has the trifecta of Los Angeles, Miami and New York all at +150 and the presumptive leaders for being the main locale for GTA 6. As many fans of the series are well aware, these three locations all have different ties to the series. For instance, Los Angeles (known as San Andrea in GTA lore) was the main setting for GTA V along with the title of the same name – Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Furthermore, Miami served as the primary venue for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and its spin-off titles.
However, the location that has perhaps the biggest shared connection in GTA history is New York City, or rather Liberty City in the games. Liberty City was featured as the main setting for the first Grand Theft Auto along with a redesigned version in Grand Theft III. The latest edition of Liberty City was held in Grand Theft Auto IV. So while some time has passed, there could be another opportunity for Rockstar to return to Liberty City.
According to the Bovada website and also ComicBook.com, all of these odds are subject to change. Also, “all wagers will be no action” if more than one city appears in GTA 6.
In addition to the main three locations featured in other games, there are nine other cities penciled in as potential settings for GTA 6 according to Bovada. This list includes London (+500), Las Vegas (+1000), Paris (+2500) and Beijing (+5000) as the final contender. Per the report from ComicBook.com, there have been reports that GTA 6 will take place in multiple cities, so if that is the case then no bets placed with Bovada will win money. Nonetheless, there is still plenty of time until more information is gathered on the status of the title.
Per the same article, Rockstar has given no details on a release window, but some rumors have pointed to the game debuting in 2024 or 2025. Though the location of the game will be known far in advance of GTA 6 releasing, there most likely will be little info released at least for a year if the rumored release window estimations hold up. However, as ComicBook.com points out, there probably is not a ton of pressure to rush the release since GTA V still continues to sell remarkably well given its advanced age. The remastered edition of GTA V (for the latest generation of consoles) released back in April and GTA Online has found a ton of tremendous support and success. Nonetheless, with the last new main title releasing back in 2013, there is growing desire to see a new mainline GTA title.
