july 2024 betting news for betus

Next year, video game fans are in for a treat as perhaps one of the most anticipated games of all time should be hitting the shelves: Grand Theft Auto VI (6). To liven things up a bit, BetUS of course has decided to get in on the fun with a new betting market dedicated to when GTA 6 will release next year. Per the site, the main favorites in this market are centered around the fall of next year: September (+350), October (+300), and November (+400). Interestingly, January of next year is tied for October for the best odds here as well at +300. For those new to the video game scene, or if you have been living under a rock, following years of speculation, Rockstar Games confirmed in February 2022 that the game was in development.

In this report, SBS will be going over the latest news and updates coming from BetUS along with some more notes and information about the website.

Rumors have been ongoing about GTA 6’s release date

As noted in one article, many have been speculating about this game’s release date following the massively strong success of its predecessor, GTA 5. Extensively marketed and widely anticipated (like what GTA 6 will no doubt be), GTA 5 broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history. The title earned $800 million in its first day and $1 billion in its first three days. GTA 5 received critical acclaim, with the praise being directed at its multiple-protagonist design, open world, presentation, and gameplay per one article. Moreover, the title is considered one of its generation’s most significant titles and among the best video games ever made. Finally, it is also considered one of the most financially successful entertainment products of all time, with over $8.5 billion in worldwide revenue.

With GTA 6 being confirmed in February 2022, there were some other interesting gameplay developments later in the year. Per one article, that September, footage from unfinished versions was leaked online in what journalists described as “one of the biggest leaks in the history of the video game industry.” The game was then formally revealed in December 2023 and is scheduled to be released in late 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Of course, this is according to various industry sources and could change as things develop, but many signs are pointing to a later-in-the-year release date, which is peculiar given the BetUS markets pointing to January as a stronger time for a release time.

That said, the bulk of the BetUS betting lines for this event does indicate that the release date will occur in the fall. The lines with the longest odds are May (+1600), June, and July (both at +1000).

The new game features a revisited version of Vice City

Per one outlet, GTA 6 will be the eighth main Grand Theft Auto game, following V, which was released in 2013, and the sixteenth entry overall. The game will be set within the fictional open-world state of Leonida – based on Florida – and its Miami-inspired Vice City. Moreover, the story is expected to follow the criminal duo of Lucia and her male partner. Vice City was previously featured in Grand Theft Auto (1997) and as the main setting of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002) and also Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (2006). As noted above, the story follows a criminal duo: Lucia, the series’ first female protagonist since 2000, and her male partner. Moreover, the first trailer depicts Lucia as a prison inmate, and later evading custody with her partner.

Regarding the game’s development, the title became highly anticipated in the years before its announcement, and journalists noted some fans became frustrated by Rockstar Games’ continued silence per sources. This was particularly noted after the company announced a re-release of Grand Theft Auto V in 2020. In November of last year though, Rockstar president Sam Houser announced the first trailer of the game. Within five hours, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) surpassed two previous posts about the game to become the platform’s most-liked gaming-related post. The GTA 6 trailer would go on to break the record for most first-day views on a non-music YouTube video within 12 hours, with 46 million, and, within 24 hours, became the third-most viewed overall, with 93 million. Finally, it surpassed the lifetime viewership of Grand Theft Auto V’s 2011 reveal trailer within two days.
