One of the most popular awards shows of the year, the 2022 People’s Choice Awards was held earlier this month and featured some of the best talent in film, television, music, and pop culture. According to an official release from BetUS, this was a very popular year for the annual award show as it has become one of the more popular entertainment shows amongst customers who enjoy betting on entertainment and award shows. In the past, BetUS has offered special proposition wagers on the event including Best Show and other major film categories. With the award show wrapping up, this was yet another case of special events getting special attention when it comes to wagering.

For this article, SBS will be taking a deeper dive into the latest news from BetUS and also some other thoughts about wagering at the site.

BetUS has seen solid growth in awards show betting

Per the release from BetUS.com and senior betting analyst, Barry Barger, there has been steady growth in the entertainment betting category. He says that people “really get into” betting on awards shows, particularly with the People’s Choice Awards, since this is a chance for them to participate. This year, the award was hosted by actor and comedian, Kenan Thompson, for the second consecutive year and was aired simultaneously on NBC and E!, last Tuesday, December 6th from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

According to the same release from the site, BetUS offered multiple betting markets on a slew of different award show categories. The movie Nope had the most film nominations with seven this year, followed by The Adam Project, Bullet Train, and the top-selling film of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, which all had five nominations each. For best actor, BetUS had Tom Cruise as the favorite to win the category, with the odds being at 4/7, but he ended up falling to Thor: Love and Thunder leading man, Chris Hemsworth. For best actress, BetUS pegged Thor’s Elizabeth Olsen as the favorite at 5/6 odds, which ended up being the correct pick here. Finally, BetUS named Top Gun: Maverick as the best movie of 2022 with its odds (2/5), which it actually did end up winning as well.

BetUS offers more entertainment lines on its website

In addition to the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, BetUS has a bunch of other entertainment betting-related categories on its website. This includes futures for the Golden Raspberry Awards, Grammy Awards, and also the Sports Personality of the Year category. Many of these categories are exclusive to BetUS and are not seen in many other locations. In addition to awards shows, BetUS offers sports futures on the WWE and television as well relating to popular shows like Creed, Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, and more.
