A very notable murder case might have a new resolution soon and BetUS has its eligible customers covered with some new betting markets related to the case. Per a release from its website, the Menendez Brothers – Erik and Lyle – have been in the news in some form for decades after murdering their parents in California. Thanks to a decision by outgoing Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, the case will be reviewed and people are anticipating a Menendez Brothers release date from prison. So, the article points out that the hope that they would be released in time for the holidays is in question because DA Nathan Hochman wants to do a thorough examination of the plethora of trial transcripts. He also discusses the case and ramifications of a release with prosecutors, law enforcement personnel, defense attorneys, and the victim’s family members.

For this update report, SBS will be going over some of the latest updates coming from BetUS along with some additional notes and information coming from the website.

Menendez Brothers have had a recent reunion together

Also covered in the article, the murders of Kitty and Jose Menendez took place on August 20, 1989, in Beverly Hills. The brothers were convicted of the killings and sentenced to prison. California put them in separate facilities for a variety of reasons, including not wanting brothers in the same venue in case they decided to plot an escape. However, in April 2018, Lyle Menendez was transferred to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility Erik was at first. A writer said when the brothers saw each other for the first time since 1996 it was a tearful, emotional moment. Which brings us to where they have been since.

Brothers have reasons for the murder occurring in 1989

Evidence has come to light recently that suggests that the Menendez Brothers claim they were subject to a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents. An attorney of the Menendez Brothers believes that if that was taken into account at the start of their legal process, they would have been charged with manslaughter and received a less severe sentence. If that plays into the current situation, it could lead to the Menendez Bros. being released from prison when that is factored into the overall case. DA Hochman will make that decision at some point, but there had been hope for an earlier release but Gascon losing the election changed the timing.

BetUS shares novelty prop wagers for the brothers

This would seem to be so far off the radar of a pair who have been incarcerated for decades, the report goes on to explain. However, the world is a different place than it was when the Menendez Bros. were convicted. Anna Delvey, for example, the fraudster and con artist who has received a significant amount of media coverage, was on Dancing With The Stars. The Daily Mail published an article alleging the brothers would be open to being cast on an appearance on DWTS. Once that rumor was generated, everyone took off with us, figuring if they were released they would be a perfect fit for the show. Who knows, in this world, anything can happen and usually does

Report notes growing popularity of novelty wagering

In addition to the Menendez prop betting lines, pop culture, and entertainment have taken hold on the world as has social media. The more this continues, the greater the interest in the public – wagering world – becomes engaged in stories such as the Menendez Brothers, which are compelling and drilled into the consciousness of the public on various social platforms. So, if you can’t escape it and have an opinion on something that encompasses pop culture, news, sports, entertainment, or politics, why not look for a way to place a bet on the topic, the article asks. BetUS, of course, offers novelty wagers because there is clearly a growing audience for these topics

The report also offers an update note for journalists in the U.S. It states, “(BetUS) understand(s) the importance of integrity in journalism and wish to affirm that utilizing our insights, data or quotes in your reporting aligns with and is protected by your First Amendment rights, even in states where sports betting has not been explicitly made legal.
