As many are no doubt aware, the best athletes from all over the planet will collide at the 2024 Olympics Games held in Paris. Of course, with so many events being contested, BetNow has gotten in on the fun with a wide array of betting markets and lines. For the purposes of this article though, we will explore the betting lines as they relate to various field events in track and field. This means everything from the shot put to the long to the pole vault and beyond and what BetNow thinks will happen as it relates to the favorites in these events. This includes the likes of Ryan Crouser from the USA being the strong favorite to win the men’s shot put at -225 along with others from America like Sam Kendricks (pole vault, +1300) to be in the mix for a shot at the podium.

For this report, SBS will be going over the latest updates coming from the BetNow sportsbook along with some additional thoughts and insights regarding the website and beyond.

BetNow thinks multiple countries have gold medal chances

Per the main site, BetNow thinks that the field events will be much more of a challenge for the Americans than what will transpire on the track (the USA has a variety of gold medal favorites). This of course includes the men’s pole vault competition where Sweden’s Armand Duplantis (-2500) is the dominant favorite here for good reason. The 24-year-old is the current world outdoor and indoor record holder and also the current Olympic and two-time World outdoor champion (2022 and 2024). Moreover, he is also a two-time indoor champion, the current European champion, and the current Diamond League champion. His accolades are very much second to none in this field and also includes him being a three-time European champion. Per BetNow, his main foes in this competition will be Kendricks, EJ Obiena (Philippines, +1300), and also France’s Thibaut Collet (+2500).

Moving over to the long jump, Greece’s Miltiadis Tentoglou is the top choice from BetNow to win this event at -250. Per sources, he is considered one of the greatest long jumpers of all time, having won first place in all major World and European championships, with a total of 11 gold medals. At just 26 years of age, he has accrued a variety of accolades like Duplantis and is in a prime position to rack up the gold once again as he did at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In 2022, he became the World Indoor champion, jumping the current Greek indoor record of 8.55 meters, which places him sixth on the respective world all-time list. He will have some staunch competition here though in the form of two Jamaican standouts in Wayne Pinnock and Carey McLeod who both have +850 odds as of this article’s writing.

Men’s triple jump sees a wide-open field of jumpers

Per the BetNow site, the triple jump competition is going to be an excellent display of athleticism with a handful of great athletes crowding at the top of the ranks. As of this article’s writing, Pedro Pichardo of Portugal is the favorite at +140 to take home the gold. He is a Cuban-born Portuguese triple jumper who holds the current Olympic and European titles. Moreover, he won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics with a Portuguese national record of 17.98m and was the 2022 world champion in the triple jump. For this competition, one of his main competitors is Spain’s Jordan Diaz at +160. With a personal best of 18.18 meters in the triple jump, he is the reigning European champion in the triple jump and is a rising star in the sport.

Olympics throws events will be an exciting display

Per the main site, the men’s discus competition will feature some awesome athletes going at it. The favorite here is Lithuania’s Mykolas Alekna (-225) who is a rock star in this discipline. At the age of 19, he won the silver medal at the 2022 World Championships, becoming the youngest world discus medalist in history. Finally, he is the son of double Olympic discus throw champion Virgilijus Alekna and shows that he has championship gold in his bloodline. Khristjah Ceh (+180) is tabbed as his main competition in the discus at +180. Per reports, he won the gold medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, setting a championship record in the process. Moreover, he placed second at the 2023 World Championships and also at the 2022 European Championships so of course he presents a fantastic competitor for Alekna.
