After losing two of their stalwart players in Stewart and Sue Bird, the Storm entered 2023 with some tempered expectations. Perhaps a disappointing season was expected after the off-season of their superstar players. The team’s 11 wins were their lowest total since 2015 and the winning percentage was the lowest since their first season in 2000. However, the team did see the emergence of shooting guard Jewell Loyd who scored more than 24 points last season. Moreover, the Storm has a sensational point guard in Skylar Diggins-Smith who could be a significant difference-maker for the squad as a multiple-time All-Star. Former No. 1 overall selection, Nneka Ogwumike, is a key piece to the team who will be critical in matchups against the Aces in the Western Conference.
Registering a mark of 27-13, the Sun is a strong squad that could be a potential dark horse to take home the championship in 2024 at least according to BetNow. Last year’s team leader in points at 17.4 per game was DeWanna Bonner. Moreover, the squad also has a great centerpiece player as well in Alyssa Thomas who paced the squad last year in both rebounds and assists.
