With the NCAA football season wrapping up following conference championship games BetNow has released some updated Heisman Trophy odds relating to the award for 2024. In what has been a fantastic season so far, a handful of players have risen to the top of the rankings on the BetNow betting markets. Per the site, the huge favorite at this point is Colorado’s Travis Hunter at -3000 in what many are thinking is a much tighter race. A noted stalwart, Hunter was a featured piece when Deion Sanders came from Jacksonville State to Colorado. Beyond Hunter, there are a variety of players in the BetNow rankings that could make a run at the Heisman Trophy. This includes Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty at +900, along with longshots like Arizona State’s Cameron Skattebo (+20000) and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel (+30000).

For this report, SBS will be going over some of the most recent updates coming from BetNow along with some additional notes and info from SBS and beyond.

Hunter has been on a legendary pace this season

After the Florida native transferred to Boulder in 2023, he has been on a tear. Last season, he was named a consensus All-American and also won the Paul Hornung Award as the most versatile player in college football. As a premier shutdown corner for the Buffaloes, Hunter has been excellent this season as well as a dual-threat receiver, accruing 1,152 receiving yards as of this article’s writing and 15 total offensive touchdowns. This is in addition to his exploits on defense where he is arguably the best corner in college football with four interceptions and 11 passes defended. He and the Sanders brothers are arguably the main reasons that Colorado was in contention for a conference title berth this season and potentially a CFP bid as well.

Another player to clearly check out this year is Broncos running back Jeanty who has been amazing this year running the football. This includes a sensational mark of 2,497 rushing yards on the ground, which is already a top-five mark all-time. Additionally, Jeanty, another Florida native has scored 30 touchdowns this year (rushing and receiving) and has been nearly impossible to slow down by opposing defenses. The two-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year (2023 and 2024), he is also a two-time All-Mountain West first-team selection thanks to his accolades on the blue turf of Boise. A devout Christian, Jeanty has been phenomenal this year and has a chance to break Barry Sanders’ rushing record if he can continue this torrid pace deep into the College Football Playoff season. That said, the Heisman might already be decided by then in this fantastic race between him and Hunter.

Gabriel, and Skattebo, make up other notable contenders

Per BetNow, Gabriel and Skattebo are a distant third and fourth from the two top contenders on this list. The former is a fantastic stalwart quarterback for the Oregon Ducks who has been a college football player since 2019. A former signal-caller at UFC and Oklahoma, Gabriel has piloted the Ducks to a perfect 13-0 record and this includes 28 passing touchdowns and an additional seven rushing scores. Thanks to his prowess, Gabriel has put up some awesome numbers for the talented Ducks as Oregon aims for a national title in the uber-talented CFP field.

A former Sacramento State Hornet, Skattebo has rushed for over 1,500 yards (1,568 as of this article’s writing) for the surprising Sun Devils. After Arizona State was picked to finish last in the Big 12 Conference this season, the Sun Devils have been on an impressive tear thanks in large part to the exploits of their talented running back. In addition to some great rushing totals, he has been great at receiving the football with 506 yards in the air and a combined 22 scores on the ground and in the air. While he no doubt has had an amazing season, the main thing working against him is that Jeanty’s year is superior to what Skattebo is doing which of course would cancel out his chances.

With the top four contenders noted here, there are a handful of longshot contestants as well. This includes Hunter’s teammate at Colorado, Deion’s son, Shedeur Sanders (+45000) who has been great under center for the Buffaloes. Moreover, there is a line in this market where an eligible contestant can bet on anyone else in college football not included on this list receiving the award which will net you a total of +450
