A league that is spearheaded under the new ownership of Dwayne Johnsons aka The Rock, the XFL is cruising along in its third full season. While this is the third overall year in the history of the league after originally being started by WWE majority owner and executive chairman Vince McMahon in the early 2000s, the XFL has found a foothold in the American sports pantheon. With that in mind, the 2023 XFL season has gotten off to a much smoother start than the 2020 edition which was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. So of course, the bright minds at BetNow decided to get in on the action by being one of the only gaming sites offering futures betting markets for the 2023 champion of the XFL season. This is in addition to all kinds of other comprehensive XFL betting markets offered by BetNow.

For this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from BetNow along with some other notes and information about using the website.

BetNow has placed the Roughnecks as XFL favorites

Per its website, BetNow has tabbed three teams as the cream of the crop in the XFL this season. Leading the way is the Houston Roughnecks at +150, followed by the DC Defenders at +160, then the St. Louis Battlehawks rounding out the crew at +600. These three squads are recognized as the best teams in the league and the most likely, according to BetNow, to win the 2023 XFL Championship. As of this article’s writing, the Defenders are the leaders in the North Division in the XFL at 5-0, including a +44 scoring margin for their games while the Roughnecks, at 4-1, lead the way in the South Division.

With the Roughnecks being the current favorites at BetNow, the squad has had a strong start to the 2023 season. Starting the campaign with four straight victories, including a 44-16 thrashing of the Orlando Guardians on the road, Houston has done an excellent job of keeping teams at bay. With a 3-0 record at home, head coach Wade Phillips has the squad moving in a great direction. A long-time NFL coordinator and coach, Phillips is also the general manager of the squad and has put together a team that should contend for a South Division title

Defenders and BattleHawks are other favorites per BetNow

As mentioned above, BetNow has also tabbed the DC Defenders in the North Division as another great value pick for their futures betting markets. Led by head coach Reggie Barlow, a former record-breaking receiver and kick returner, DC has many thinking this could be the squad to bring a championship back to the DMV. Known for its signature “beer snake” stadium item, the Defenders are the last undefeated team in the XFL this season. Moreover, they are coming off a solid road victory over the BattleHawks, 28-20 in St. Louis. While Barlow is receiving the credit he should as head coach, DC defensive coordinator Gregg Williams aka “Dr. Heat”, has been turning up the pressure on opposing offenses all season long.

The BattleHawks, No. 3 on the BetNow futures list, have a great offense led by former Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron. In addition to McCarron, St. Louis also has the services of a fantastic backfield in former Cincinnati Bengal Brian Hill and the University of Kansas standout Pooka Williams. While the squad has stumbled as of late, losing two of their last three games, both to DC, this is a team that has the firepower to score points in a hurry.
