MLB Futures; Is 2023 going to be the year for the Yankees?

We’re still a good few weeks away from the start of the 2023 Major League Baseball season, but as we all know, it’s never too early to take a look ahead to the upcoming season and make some MLB futures picks.

Mlb Futures Is 2023 Going To Be The Year For The Yankees

As is often the case in the silly season, the off-the-pitch headlines are almost as eye-catching as the headlines that are made on the pitch during the season. And this off-season has been no different.

Is this going to be the year for the New York Yankees?

One of the best bits of business completed in the off-season was by the Yankees when they managed to re-sign Arron Judge on a contract that might even make Cristiano Ronaldo jealous

In keeping Judge, the Yankees have not only appeased their fanbase but also have ensured that they are one of the serious players in the betting to win the World Series this fall. Losing Judge would have been a disaster. The fans would have been in an uproar, and after the way the Yankees were dismantled by the Houston Astros in last year’s ALCS, the last thing Brian Cashman and co will need is to be starting the new season with even more negative vibes around the place.

As well as keeping hold of Judge, the Yankees have added two-time All-Star Carlos Rodon to their roster. Rodon will join five times All-Star Gerrit Cole in a lineup that will strike fear into the hearts of hitters throughout the MLB.

So, where does this leave the Yankees in the latest MLB betting odds? Let’s take a look in more depth as we check out the latest odds with the best World Series MLB betting sites.

MLB Futures; 2023 World Series Betting

Despite the good business done by the Yankees, they are not the favorites to win the 2023 World Series. Depending on which of the best MLB betting sites you use will depend on the odds. But one thing they all agree on is that the Houston Astros are the favorites.

The Astros are +600 with BetUS and Bovada and +625 with BetOnline. Bovada likes the look of the LA Dodgers and makes them joint favorites with the Astros. Elsewhere, the Dodgers are fourth favorites at +775 with BetOnline and fourth favorites at +750 with BetUS.

The New York Met and their cross-town rivals, the Yankees, make up the top four in the betting. All four are between +600 and +800, depending on who you are betting with.

Bookies see it as a two-way fight for the American League

In the betting to win the American League, the market is dominated by the Houston Astros at +275 and the New York Yankees at +325. The third team in the betting is Toronto Blue Jays at +750, who the Seattle Mariners closely follow at +850. We believe the Mariners are a team to follow in 2023. They managed to tie down Julio Rodriguez to a long contract last year, and after the way he burst onto the scene last season, Seattle fans know they have plenty to be excited about heading into the new season.

It might be a season too soon for the Mariners, though. As much as they will be interesting to watch, the Astros and the Yankees will be tough nuts to crack. But at +850, the Marines must be worth an outside punt to win the American League.

National League looks like a more open contest

It’s a similar story in the National League. Yes, there are two outstanding candidates, but their rivals are much closer in the betting.

The LA Dodgers and the New York Mets lead the way. Both are +350 with BetOnline. But they do have the Atlanta Braves for company, and who can forget the way the Braves chased down the Mets in the NL East last season?

The Braves are +500 to win the National League Pennant, which is the same price as the San Diego Padres. The Philadelphia Phillies, at +650, are also in the hunt in what looks like a more competitive league than the American does.

Plenty can still change

As things stand, there are still well over two months until the new season starts. A lot will still happen in that time, and the odds will no doubt change again. The Yankees were favorites to win the World Series recently, and now it’s the Astros again. This highlights how quickly things can change.

There is still horse trading, and preseason matches start at the end of February. The situation will change again before the season finally gets underway on March 30th. There is so much to look forward to. The prospect of the Yankees and Mets in a World Series final, the Dodgers finally realizing their potential, or the Astros and the Braves continuing to upset the so-called bigger names consistently.

The Phillie will also be a threat, and the new kids are on the block in Seattle. And let’s not forget the Padres. For so long in the shadow of the Dodgers in 2022, they got their revenge by defeating LA in the NLDS. The 2023 season promises to be another belter.
