In what should be an interesting subplot to one of the next installments in a famous film franchise, Bovada has shared a betting market on who will sing the theme song of the next James Bond movie. Per a report from the website, it’s about three since the last James Bond film, “No Time To Die,” was released in theaters and many action moviegoers are starting to become hungry for the next installment of the franchise. Earlier in 2024, pop culture fans began to speculate who would take on the titular role after Daniel Craig would retire from 007 and it became reported that Aaron Taylor-Johnson would be given the production company EON. Additionally, every time a new title of the movie series is announced, fans gather around to follow the tradition of finding out what artist will sing the titular “James Bond Theme.”

For this report, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest entertainment news coming from Bovada, along with some more notes and info coming from the website.

Bond theme has a strong history of established tunes

Noted in the same article, the title song is a daring tune but emotionally riveting track that is fitting for the film. In the past, many iconic artists have sung the theme, including Nancy Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Madonna, and Sam Smith, among others. The last artist to be added to the roster includes Grammy-award-winning artist Billie Eilish, who just recently won an Academy Award for Best Original Song

Per the report, many rumors have begun to stir online as people began to make their picks on who will be singing the next theme song. Of course, Bovada has compiled a list of possible contenders so “you can take part of the fun.” Noted on the site, the next artist to record the James Bond theme song odds are: Dua Lipa (+200), Lady Gaga (+750), and Beyonce (+1500) as the main top three. Additionally, Olivia Rodrigo (+1500) and Adele (+1800) are in the mix to record the next tune.

Per the article, Dua Lipa is the first contender here and has been dubbed as the “new favorite” by many sources to sing the next theme. Additionally, the article notes, it would be fitting for a British star to sing the song that follows the adventures of a British spy and in a 2018 interview on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Lipa showed much interest in singing the theme. Although being snubbed by the Grammys with the lack of nominations for her latest album, “Radical Optimism” the singer could make an awards comeback if she were to take on the theme song role.

Lady Gaga and Beyonce are also in the Bond mix

With the surprising release of the “Harlequin” soundtrack, which was accompanied by her highly anticipated starring film, “Joker: Folie à Deux,’ Lady Gaga dabbled in a mix of covers and original tracks. This showcased her powerful and raw vocals in jazz, contemporary pop, and rock genres that embodied the complex and rebelliousness of her character of the same name. Following in the same vein, it wouldn’t be surprising if Gaga made an acting appearance in the next 007 film alongside doing its theme per the report.

Additionally, as Beyonce continues her musical trilogy with the release of her country album, “Cowboy Carter,” the star could continue riding her record-breaking streaks with the potential of snagging and adding the James Bond theme to her artistic belt. With vocals that shine in any genre possible, it’s actually surprising the star still has not been featured on their theme song roster. On a separate note, with atmospheric vocals that catapulted her into stardom with her debut single. “Driver’s License,” the younger singer has the “GUTS” quite literally to take on the job. Last year, Rodrigo took on her first soundtrack role with “Can’t Catch Me Now.” The singer was praised for her vocal delivery and lyricism which are parallel to the requirements needed to make the “perfect James Bond theme song.”

Adele is a dark horse contender for the showcase song

Finally, Adele is featured in the breakdown on Bovada. Back in 2013, Adele accomplished something that many artists are hoping to achieve very soon, as she had already taken on the James Bond theme role with “Skyfall.” The song became world-renowned as the soulful and emotionally tear-jerking vocalist perfectly encapsulated the atmospheric feel of the film evident with all the accolades it has earned. Although far-fetched as no artist has taken on the role twice, it wouldn’t also be surprising if Adele was recruited for a second round.
