Perhaps the most enigmatic quarterback in professional football, Aaron Rodgers is at a crossroads once again with the Jets season spiraling out of control in 2024. With that in mind, BetOnline returns with a new prop wager market around the future of the quarterback and whether he will return or not in 2025. As noted on the website, Rodgers will one day be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he may not be in the NFL next season, or will he be back at age 42? That is the big question in the Big Apple and on BetOnline as the Jets don’t really have a plan for their quarterback at least according to the web article. Per the site, the latest BetOnline odds for whether Rodgers will retire before the start of the 2025 regular season stand at -200 for “No” and +150 for “Yes.”

For this article, SBS will be going over what to look for from the latest gaming news and updates coming from BetOnline along with some other notes and info from the site and more.

Jets facing multiple issues beyond quarterback spot

Per the report, the Aaron Rodgers experiment did not go as planned when New York traded a couple of draft picks for the former Packers star. Last season, he ruptured his Achilles tendon in the first game and missed the remainder of the year. Rodgers returned in 2024 with high expectations, but the Jets stumbled again, eventually firing head coach Robert Saleh. In a desperate move, the team reunited Rodgers and his former No. 1 target in Green Bay, Davante Adams, with hopes of making a run.

In short, that did not work as planned with Adams struggling to catch a groove with Rodgers this year following some inconsistent seasons in Las Vegas. Then, the Jets fired general manager Joe Douglas, and it appears a new regime will lead them in a direction that does not involve Rodgers, per sources. Additionally, the report notes that the new management team will likely want to start over and move on from the aging veteran.

The article goes on to discuss the possibility of the quarterback retiring next year. As the report notes, Father Time remains undefeated, but Rodgers has always hinted he wants to play into his 40s. However, there’s no question his best days are behind him. His dilemma now, the article says, is whether he should walk away with another year left on his deal or try to land another job somewhere other than New York. Rodgers did say on the Pat McAfee Show that he plans to wait and see what happens at the end of the season and that he does not know if he wants to play, but New York would be his first option. Typically, when a new management team comes in, they want to go with their own guy.

New Rodgers landing spots discussed in the report

The Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the first teams showcased in the BetOnline article. There was talk initially that the four-time MVP could end up in Pittsburgh before being traded to the Jets. Maybe he could still land in Steeltown in the offseason? The Steelers have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, but both will be unrestricted free agents, leaving a spot open for Rodgers if he wants to play for a contender. Additionally, another team to look out for here is the Raiders are playing out the string and are likely hoping to drop down the standings to have a shot at drafting a quarterback. Noted in the article, this draft isn’t as deep at the position as 2024, but if Vegas is in a position to draft one, they will. Additionally, that could mean bringing in a veteran quarterback for a season, and Rodgers fits the bill there.

The article also covers a couple of other teams here like the New York Giants. After releasing Daniel Jones, it’s clear the Giants will want a new quarterback next season. Whether it’s in the draft through free agency, maybe Rodgers does not have to leave the Big Apple just yet. Moreover, the Cleveland Browns have their own quarterback experiment gone wrong in Deshaun Watson. The teams could potentially work out a trade for the two quarterbacks, with Rodgers landing in the Dawg Pound. Both players could use a fresh start and a change of zip codes. Finally, the Vikings are another squad that has been tabbed as a dark horse here even though they have Sam Darnold, rookie J.J. McCarthy, and just added Daniel Jones.
