The season in Indiana started with great excitement after Clark was drafted in from Ioha, but the team opened their campaign with five defeats in a row to go 0-5 which included two defeats to Connecticut and New York Liberty, as well as one from Seattle Storm. They claimed their first win of the season against the Los Angeles Sparks, before then following three more consecutive defeats to end their first month of the season with a 1-8 record.
June was far better however as the team got back to winning ways against the Chicago Sky, starting an excellent run of form that saw them go 6-2. They defeated Chicago, Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream twice each but they were also beaten by Connecticut once again. They closed the month going 1-2 in their final three games to end with an overall record of 8-12.
July was a quiet month with just six games, and Indiana went 3-3 during that month. Clark hit 11 or more assists in five of the six games, leading the team, but couldn’t help them avoid defeat against Las Vegas Aces, Washington and Dallas Wings.
So far this month the Fever have gone 2-1 after claiming back-to-back wins over Phoenix Mercury and Seattle, but suffered defeat against the Minnesota Lynx. Last time out they beat the Atlanta Dream though, to leave them with a 14-16 record.

One of the pre-season favorites to go all the way in the WNBA in 2024, Connecticut had the perfect start to their campaign as they opened the season wth a stunning 7-0 run in May. DeWanna Bonner top-scored for the Sun in five of their seven wins as they defeated Indiana (x2), Washington, Chicago, Minnesota, Phoenix and Dallas.
They carried that winning run into June as they won their first two games against Atlanta and Washington to move to 9-0, before their first defeat of the season came against New York. They quickly bounced back by winning their next four games in a row however, before losing three of their final four games of the month to move to a 14-4 record.
July was better as they won their first three games on the bounce, defeating Minnesota, Phoenix and Arizona before losing against New York twice, either side of victory against Phoenix again as they win 4-2.
So far in August they have gone 4-1 for the month, including wins in each of their last three games in a row to come into this game with a stunning 22-7 record for the season to date.
When you look at the statistics for both teams and the individual performances of their players this game should be really close.
Caitlin Clark has been the standout performer between both teams with 17.9 points-per-game on average and 8.3 assists per game, while Alyssa Thomas leads the way with 1.6 steals per game and Aaliyah Boston leads the way with 9.2 rebounds per game this season.
The team stats are equally close with Connecticut averaging 79.9 points per game, 33.8 rebounds per game and 19.6 assists per game, while Indiana are averaging 82.6 points per game, 35 rebounds per game and 20.2 assists per game.
However, when you look at the history of the games against each other it’s been relatively routine for the Sun so far.
This season they have played each other three times and Connecticut have been successful three times, winning 92-71, 88-84 and 89-72. Both teams are in good form coming into this, but that psychological edge is big and Stephanie White knows how to win these games.
Brionna Jones leads the way with a 51.5 field-goal percentage this season while DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas are shining with some great performances too. With all of that in their favor, back them to get the victory once again.
