Perhaps the most consistently electrifying event at each Olympic Games, the 100-meter dash features a sensational field this year. Per its site, BetNow has betting markets for who will win the 100m dash at the Paris Olympics on both the men’s and women’s side of the event. For the former, the USA’s Noah Lyles is one to watch as the 2020 bronze medalist in the 200 meters is aiming for his first Olympic gold after winning the 2023 100 m World Championship in Budapest. Meanwhile, former LSU Tiger Sha’Carri Richardson is the favorite to take home the top prize on the women’s side of the event per BetNow. Like Lyles, Richardson won gold in the 100 m at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, besting rivals Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in a new championships record time of 10.65 seconds per the official page.

In this report, SBS will be going over the latest gaming news and updates coming from BetNow along with some additional notes and info about the website and beyond.

Lyles headlines a stellar group of 100 m contenders

As noted at the BetNow site, Lyles (+185) is tabbed as the favorite to take home the gold medal thanks to not only his recent string of gold, but his consistent career success. As noted above, he is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic 200 m bronze medalist and a six-time World Champion.  In the past, he has won the 200 m and 4 x 100 m at the 2019 World Championships, the 200 m at the 2022 World Championships, and the 100 m, 200 m, and 4 x 100 m events at the 2023 World Championships. With this feat, Lyles became the first man since Usain Bolt in 2015 to complete the sprint treble at a World Championships. He holds a personal best of 9.83 seconds for the 100 m and 19.31 seconds for the 200 m, the latter being an American record and third all-time.

Per BetNow, his main competition will come from two men in Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo (+370) and his American teammate, Christian Coleman (+500). The former achieved the silver medal at the 2023 World Championships in 100 m and followed it up with a bronze medal in the 200 m only five days later. A trailblazer for his country, Tebogo became the fist Botswana athlete to claim the 100 m title at any World Championships level. Moreover, he is the 200 m African champion per the official race index and in the process, became the youngest winner of this title in competition history.

Meanwhile, Coleman is a track veteran and the 2019 world champion in the 100 meters. He holds personal bests of 9.76 seconds for the 100 m, which made him the sixth fastest all-time in the history of the event. He is also the world record holder for the indoor 60 meters.

Richardson poised for gold medal glory in Paris

While the men’s 100 m race certainly holds a lot of intrigue, it will be perhaps dwarfed by the showdown in the women’s 100 m event. As referenced above, Richardson (+240) enters this contest as the reigning World Champion in the 100. In addition to her accomplishments as of late, she has steadily accrued top accolades in the sprinting world. This includes her initially rising to fame as a freshman at LSU, running 10.75 seconds to break the 100 m collegiate record at the NCAA Division I Championships. In the process, her winning time made her one of the ten fastest women in history at 19 years old.

Her main competitors to look out for in this event are Jackson (+300) and the legendary Fraser-Pryce (+600). A star from the sprinting hotbed of Jamaica, Jackson is the fifth-fastest woman of all time in the 100 m, while in the 200 m she is the second fastest woman in history. Starting her career as a 400 meter runner, she shifted to shorter sprints in 2021 she won bronze in the 100 m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, then added a gold and bronze for the 4 x 100 m and 4 x 400 m relays respectively.

Meanwhile, Fraser-Pryce’s glorious career is perhaps coming to a close with this Olympic contest in Paris. An eight-time Olympic medallist, she is also one of the most decorated athletes in history at the World Athletics Championships. Fraser-Pryce has won ten gold, five silver medals, and a bronze medal at these events. She is the only sprinter to win five world titles in the 100 m.
