The 2023 NFL season is seeing historical performances, and with a 17-game schedule, long-time single-season records are in prime position to be broken. Per BetUS.com betting markets and a release from the website, the race to break Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving record has never been more at hand. With several standout wide receivers vying for this coveted achievement, BetUS has posted an exclusive betting market asking bettors if Johnson’s 1,964-yard record will fall this season, and who may just be the one to do it. The initial odds-on favorite to accomplish this fantastic feat was Minnesota’s dynamic playmaker, Justin Jefferson. However, the wideout was placed on injured reserve a couple of weeks ago so he will have to wait another year for a chance at this title. Now, there is a new favorite at the top of this list in Miami’s Tyreek Hill.

In this report, SBS will be going over the latest news coming from BetUS and also more notes about the online sportsbook.

Hill is already over a thousand yards on the year

Per the release, Jefferson was noted as the hot favorite to start this year to beat Megatron’s record, but an injury curtailed his chances. The dynamic playmaker began with +150 odds as the most likely candidate to break Johnson’s record, according to BetUS oddsmakers. Jefferson did have an impressive start to the season, notching 571 yards, and he should make a strong comeback when he is healthy, but he is firmly out of the single-season receiving yards race

With Jefferson out of commission, the top athlete to break Johnson’s receiving record is Miami’s Hill at +200 odds. With over 1,000 receiving yards already this season, Hill is demonstrating that experience and opportunity can go a long way, per BetUS. The wideout leads the league in 40+ yard receptions with seven and has scored eight times this season in the explosive Dolphins offense. While Hill and Jefferson were both noted as early favorites by BetUS, a new contender has emerged as a threat to break the record in the Eagles’ A.J. Brown. Initially starting with +1800 odds to break the mark, Brown has climbed to +550 after multiple 100-yard games and highlight reel plays.

Rookie sensation Nacua is a dark horse contender

According to the BetUS site, Puka Nacua, the rookie sensation, who has taken the NFL by storm this season, rounds out the top three in BetUS’s odds to break Johnson’s record with odds of +750. His remarkable performance for the Los Angeles Rams, with over 800 receiving yards, has caught the attention of fans and bettors alike. Tim Williams, Director of Public Relations at BetUS has said “Nacua presents an enticing option for bettors, given his standout performance this season that will likely only get better as the season progresses.”

While these three are the frontrunners per BetUS, other notable receivers are highlighted on the site and in the article. This includes Davante Adams (+1800), Stefon Diggs, and the Chargers’ Keenan Allen, who are leading their respective squads in receiving. That said, Adams especially poses some question marks with Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels being let go last week and the other two both not being on-pace to pass the legendary receiving mark
