The 2024 Oscars ceremony is set to take place in March 2024, with all eyes on how Oppenheimer the move does as the standout movie of the year so far.
Christopher Nolan’s masterpiece is expected to be nominated for a host of Academy Awards at the 96th edition next year, and with Cillian Murphy leading the way in one of the most stacked categories around for Best Actor, it bodes well. We’ll take a look at Murphy and the rest of the top potential nominees for the award and provide you with our best free entertainment betting picks to see if we can earn you some extra cash in the process.

As the main man in the Oppenheimer film, Cillian Murphy has come out as the heavy early favorite for the Best Actor Award in 2024.
It would be his first-ever Academy Award nomination if he received one, and many people will be expecting him to come out on top should he get that.
His performance as the “father of the atomic bomb” has received critical acclaim from all over the world as one of the best showings of his long career, where his most known role previously was that of “Tommy Shelby” in drama series “Peaky Blinders”.
Murphy has the support of plenty of critics and fans, while the movie has been highly popular since it’s release. Much like Ramy Malek and Eddie Redmayne, he would join a list of stars to win the award at the first attempt upon nomination and he is our pick to do just that.

Another front-runner for a Best Actor nomination at the 2024 Oscars is Colman Domingo for the musical adaptation of The Color Purple.
Steven Spielberg’s 1985 version of the film The Color Purple was nominated for eleven awards at the 1986 Oscars, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, although neither were victorious.
In the 2023 film, Colman Domingo is portraying the main character and protagonish Albert “Mister” Johnson, which was played by Danny Glover in the 1985 version. Domingo is already the recipient of an Emmy and has been nominated for Tony and Olivier awards, with The Color Purple potentially adding an Oscar nomination to his growing list of accolades.
At +450 there is great value on him winning the famous trophy to add to his collection, but it would take some swing to see him garner enough traction to beat Murphy to it.
While he didn’t score a nomination for his performance in the 2022 Best Picture nominee Don’t Look Up, Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to receive yet another acting nod at the Oscars for his performance in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
DiCaprio has been nominated for the Best Actor Oscar five times already, having won the award in 2016 for his portrayal of Hugh Glass in The Revenant.
Two of DiCaprio’s other Best Actor nominations were for movies he made with Martin Scorsese, including The Aviator and The Wolf of Wall Street. As DiCaprio leads another true story adaptation from Scorsese in Killers of the Flower Moon, he’s predicted to earn a nomination for Best Actor at the 2024 Oscars.
With so much critical acclaim for the film and the huge reputation that he has, there’s no doubt that +450 is excellent value for Leo to win the award for a second time.
The 2020 Oscars’ Best Actor winner Joaquin Phoenix is starring in one of the most highly-anticipated 2023 movies that comes from Ridley Scott.
Phoenix is playing the title role in Napoleon, which sees him team up with Scott for an epic biographical drama. If he seals the nod at the 2024 Academy Awards, Napoleon would mark Phoenix’s fourth Best Actor nomination at the Oscars, with the actor’s 2020 win for Joker suggesting the Academy will continue to recognize him in morally dubious roles.
Though Napoleon doesn’t hit theaters until November 2023, the film is already making waves as the anticipation grows for Phoenix’s intense performance and Scott’s large-scale direction.
Getting +1800 at this stage of the process is great value, because as the movie releases closer to nomination season and the hype around it builds these will only drop.
