The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season is rolling on with the circuit heading to Chicago this weekend for a history-making event at the Grant Park 220. For this stellar contest, racers will be battling it out on the first street race contested in the NASCAR Cup Series. Regarding racers to watch, a couple of familiar faces jump off the page from the sportsbooks. Chase Elliott returns as a favorite in this race after posting back-to-back top-five finishes. Meanwhile, another fantastic racer to keep an eye on is points leader Martin Truex Jr. who is on a torrid hot streak buoyed by four consecutive top-five finishes including one win. Finally, Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick round out the host of favorites from the sportsbooks with the former making a playoff push and the latter on a downward skid with the playoffs looming.
For this article, SBS will be going over what to look for from each contending racer, and a predicted winner, along with more notes and information about placing your NASCAR bets.

After having a rocky start to his season (Elliott missed six races earlier this year), he has recovered nicely and has been a darling of online sportsbooks. With four top-five finishes this season out of ten races he has competed in, the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion can never be counted out in a race. Since returning from his early season hiatus, the 27-year-old has ranked within the top-ten of five of the eight races he has entered.
The current reigning NASCAR Cup Series points leader, Truex Jr. has had a dominant streak going back to his win at the 2023 Würth 400 at the beginning of May. During that streak, aside from one poor outing at Darlington (31st place), he has never finished outside the top ten. This includes two wins, including Dover, and three top-five performances.
Recognized as the ninth-place driver in the Cup Series, the veteran Larson is coming off another great performance this past weekend at the Ally 400. While he was not able to pull off the win at Nashville, the veteran racer still ended up in the top five contenders with a fifth-place finish. Though he has had some poor outings this season, he still has two wins on the year and is perhaps due for another one.
Perhaps a dark horse racer, Reddick has had a tough string of races since finishing fifth at the 2023 Coca-Cola 600. In his last three events, the 27-year-old has finished 35th, 33rd, and 30th. Nonetheless, some online outlets have Reddick as perhaps one to watch heading into the 2023 Grant Park 220. Time will tell, but he does have seven top-ten finishes to his credit this season.
Prediction: In this interesting race format, take the red-hot Truex Jr. to keep the good times rolling along and notch a win in Chicago.
