All eyes in the NFL are on the road to the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII after the 2023 Draft took place, with the Kansas City Chiefs looking to defend their crown as champions.

The Chiefs claimed the victory in a close fought game, edging out the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 thanks to a huge fourth quarter in the State Farm Arena back in February. But as the new season begins, it brings new opportunities for other franchises to potentially write their names into the history books after bolstering their rosters in the draft.

We’ll take a look ahead to the new season and provide you with our best free NFL picks to see if we can earn you some extra cash.

Kansas City Chiefs – +650

With Patrick Mahomes in his prime, the Chiefs will find themselves atop these odds for the foreseeable future. Kansas’ top-tier talent is undeniable, and probably the best in the league, with Mahomes pairing with TE Travis Kelce and studs like Chris Jones on defense.

But these aren’t the same Chiefs from the last few years. Like with all Super Bowl winning squads, there have been some big losses in free agency. That said, with a QB like Mahomes and a coach like Andy Reid, Kansas can probably survive the losses of LT Orlando Brown Jr., OT Andrew Wylie, DL Khalen Saunders, S Juan Thornhill, and EDGE Frank Clark.

it’s hard to ignore that the Chiefs have hosted five consecutive AFC Championship Games and have the best quarterback in football, and one of the best ever despite being early in his career.

All signs point to Kansas City being back in the big game this time next year, so get the value while you can.

Philadelphia Eagles – +800

The Eagles faced a slew of complicated contractual moves, such as Jalen Hurts‘ impending max deal and free agents all over both sides of the ball. They were able to come out ahead on many, though, signing Hurts to an impressive contract and retaining as many of their free agents as they could.

The good news for Philadelphia is it has one of the sharpest general managers in football in Howie Roseman, who made this team a contender by trading for A.J. Brown and adding Haason Reddick, amongst other moves, last offseason.

I trust Roseman to reload for 2023-24, and there seem to be only a few teams in the NFC that can compete with the Eagles.

The Eagles got to the Super Bowl last year for a reason, posting the best regular-season record (tied with the Chiefs) and dominating on both sides of the ball all year long.

Though a few key free agents left in the summer, like Miles Sanders and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, the Eagles backfilled all their holes with an incredible showing at the 2023 NFL Draft.

First rounders DT Jalen Carter and EDGE Nolan Smith give Philly an injection on the defense and a trade for D’Andre Swift helped them strengthen at running back. Last year’s Eagles squad was great, but this one might be even better and there is great value in backing them to go one step further.

Buffalo Bills – +900

The Bills have been to the playoffs for the last four years in a row but they’ve advanced to the AFC title game just once in that period of time, and it was the Cincinnati Bengals who beat them in the divisional round last year.

The club has been in the mix of Super Bowl contenders and favorites for several seasons, and it now heads to another offseason of looking to get over the hump.

Dalton Kincaid and O’Cyrus Torrence strengthen the roster well heading into the new season and at +900 they’re good value, but a Super Bowl win looks out of their reach right now all things considered.

San Francisco 49ers – +1000

For the third time in four seasons, the 49ers advanced to the NFC title game. Early injuries proved to be too much to overcome, and they lost convincingly to the Eagles to bring an unceremonious end to the campaign.

The quarterback situation in San Francisco is an interesting one, but they’re still more than good enough to be contenders regardless of what happens.

Whichever quarterback the Niners eventually land on will have a more difficult job, with DC DeMeco Ryans leaving the team.

2022 Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa  will be the leader of a very talented unit, but San Francisco’s cap crunch could see a key contributor or two move on, which will damage their chances.

With no picks in the opening two rounds of the draft, their roster isn’t much stronger this year so it looks like this is a bet to avoid at this stage.
