There are some prime fixtures taking place in the MLB this weekend, and with the LA Dodgers in unbeatable form, and the New York Yankees visiting Fenway Park, we have some free MLB betting picks on the weekend matches.
The LA Dodgers put the San Diego Padres firmly in their place last weekend, and now on an unbeaten run so far in August, the Dodgers find themselves the outright betting favorite to be the 2022 World Series winner.
Any thoughts the Padres had that they could close the gap on LA were swiftly dealt with as the pre-season favorites convincingly beat their NL West rivals last weekend. The clean sweep saw LA win by scores of 8-1, 8-3, and 4-0.
The results have also seen the odds of the Padres winning the World Series considerably shift. Before the series, the Padres were just +775 to win the World Series, now they are out at +1200.
The Dodgers have also now established themselves as the sole favorites with the betting to win the 2022 World Series. They were joint favorites with the Yankees last week, with both teams at +350. The recent results have seen the Dodgers’ odds cut to +325 with the best MLB betting sites, with the Yankees now out to +400.

So far this August, the Dodgers are nine wins from nine played. In total, they have now won ten in a row. They’ve just completed a home double over the Minnesota Twins, 10-3 and 8-5. Those back-to-back wins came after sweeping the Padres at Dodgers Stadium, which followed four wins at Oracle Park over the San Francisco Giants.
The Dodgers have been on fire since the start of July, and that form seems to be continuing. Or maybe even stepping up a notch, into August.
Up next for Dave Roberts’ team is a three-match mini-away series against the Kansas City Royals. Starting on Friday night, the Dodgers play across successive nights, and it’s hard to see anything other than another three wins for the NL West leaders.
The Royals have enjoyed somewhat of an upturn in fortunes of late. In their last ten, they are 6-4, but they still sit second bottom of the AL Central with just a win percentage of .411. That’s not far ahead of the Tigers at .384, and any side would be doing well to be worse than the Tigers are at the moment.
Anyway, in short, the Royals are going to be no match for the Dodgers, and I can only see another 3-0 series win coming up. For a pick on the series, I’m looking at Sunday’s lunchtime match, starting at 2.10pm ET.
By this time, the Royals will probably be that beaten up by the Dodgers, that they will be there for the taking. Alternatively, if the Royals do manage to upset the Dodgers and the mini-series stands at 1-1, then LA will need a victory to complete the series win.
Either way, I think the Dodgers will have a good reason to win the third match-up. And I’m taking them to win on the handicap, and I’m also going for overs as I can see run fest.

Elsewhere and the Boston Red Sox host the New York Yankees across the weekend in what looks to be another unpredictable series. After having an awful start to July (with results and injuries) the Red Sox did rally.
August seemed to mark an improvement in results. The Red Sox even managed back-to-back wins over the Astros at Minute Maid Park. Sadly the good form of the Orioles, coupled with a return to inconsistency from Alex Cora’s team has seen the Red Sox slump to the bottom of the AL East.
So is a match-up against the division leaders and local rivals just what is needed to stir up the Fenway Park faithful? Or is it the last thing that the struggling outfit needs at this moment in time?
It has to be said that if the Red Sox can’t get themselves up for this match-up, what will they ever get revved up for?
On the flip side, after a recent poor run of form from the Yankees, this could be just the fixture needed to get them up and running again.
But with both teams performing so inconsistently of late, it’s extremely difficult to call a winner.
Two of New York’s recent matches have finished 1-0. But on the whole, there have been lots of runs scored in their matches, with plenty ending in double figures. And while the Red Sox might not score heavily, they do concede lots. Therefore I feel the safest pick to make in this match will be overs.
