A premier and world-renowned competition, the women’s tennis tournament at Wimbledon are one of the most iconic showdowns in all of professional tennis. This year’s field will feature a lot of notable names, but notably absent is 2021 Wimbledon winner, Ashleigh Barty of Australia. While Barty will not be in this year’s tournament, the presumptive favorite is Iga Świątek of Poland who is currently recognized as the No. 1 player in the world. While the 21-year Polish powerhouse certainly has earned front-runner status, she will have to fend off a crowded field if she wants to win her first-ever Wimbledon crown.

Below, SBS will go into more detail regarding the top four favorites for this year’s tournament and also who will be able to take home the grand prize.

Favorites to Win The 2022 Women's Wimbledon FinalBetOnline
Iga Swiatek+165
Coco Gauff+1000
Ons Jabeur+1200
Simona Halep+1600

The No. 1 Contender: Iga Świątek (Odds: +165)

The top player in the world as of this year’s tournament, Świątek is aiming for her second-ever Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. In last year’s competition, she made it to the fourth round of the tournament but was bounced in an unspectacular fashion. However, in 2022 she has been on a tear which was showcased in full fashion during her dominant French Open run. With a record of 44-3 on the year thus far, the 21-year-old has been a machine. A point of concern though is that Świątek has yet to play on any grass surfaces at a tournament this year which might give her some challenges

The No. 2 Player: Coco Gauff (Odds: +1000)

After making it to the final of the 2022 French Open, Gauff has an opportunity to shock the world if she can win it all in London. One of the youngest professional players in the world at only 18 years of age, the native of Atlanta, Georgia is now recognized as the No. 12 player in the world. While she was unable to win it all at Roland Garros, she certainly has everyone’s attention after her best Grand Slam performance yet. Gauff currently has a record of 6-2 at Wimbledon over the years but will be looking to build on her fourth-round performance last year.

Third Ranked Contender: Ons Jabeur (Odds: +1200)

The No. 2 player in the world, Jabeur is another competitor looking for their first-ever Grand Slam title. An athlete that enjoys using a variety of shots to confuse and frustrate her opponents, the 27-year-old Tunisian star certainly has found a way to win at a consistent level with a 64.5% career win rate. As of this article’s writing, Jabeur is pacing at about a 77% win rate on the season, which is the highest level in her career thus far. If she can sustain this torrid pace then she will have an excellent shot at taking home the title.

Final Contender: Simona Halep (Odds: +1600)

Our final athlete showcase, Halep is the savvy veteran of this list and definitely one that has some great Grand Slam success. A former world No.1 player (October of 2017), the Romanian star also won the 2019 Wimbledon tournament. In addition to her Wimbledon crown, she also locked down the 2018 French Open with a fantastic final performance. Third all-time in career prize money rankings, a crafty vet like Halep can never be counted out even if the field is dominated by youth.

Prediction: Though Świątek certainly is trending in the right direction as of late, perhaps this will be the tournament that Gauff finally breaks through
